Hi everyone,
I'm back and going to be more active in this forum. Yes, I was in Jakarta for about 3 months. I was sent there by my college against my will. Thank God I survived any bomb attacks and earthquakes and now back in Sabah in one piece.
I'm in KK now. I know of another Malay guy (Izzat) from KK also who does Extreme Card Magic (you know... all the fancy flippings and manipulations with cards). He's just incredible with card sleights. One of the best in Malaysia I've personally seen in card magic. Unfortunately he's studying in KL and only back here in Sabah occasionally for holidays.
Izzat is teaming up with another friend of mine in KL, Henzi, a stage illusionist and they're currently working on a magic special to be aired later on Malaysian TV. Looking forward to that. :)
That's it for now.
Brendan Low - September 7, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
Izzat and Henzi, are they in MMF?
would be great to have them here with us Alex. Perhaps u can let them know yeah?
Would be great to meet up with them oneday :)
Cheers!
Brendan

why do you all alway looking for Bee n bicycle but not butterfly or motorbike?
if u call urself "magician" is it just because it's goooooood quality? easy to handle, smooth....? we can just easy to find out who is "magician" in asia especially. :ph43r:
Jeff Gan - September 7, 2005 01:26 PM (GMT)
Ms575,
I think its the Bees & Bikes are the preferred brand for the guys who love card fluorishing & fanning. There are other brands too, but not so easily available in Malaysia or consistant in quality.
Do you have a prefered brand of cards, or any deck will do?

I don't understand your last statement. You want to hire an entertainer or a fire mage to join your "save the world" party?

Are you into black magic ?

We are talking abt cards here. And doesnt mean u buy bikes or bees decks u are a magician. lol...
Like rainking said, bikes are magician prefered deck of card for it quality. It nothin gimmicked abt it. Its not what u have that makes u a magician, its wat u do.
so, are you a magician? <_<

I actually understand what you mean about using only Bicycles and Bees.
ms575 is saying that because these cards are not common in malaysia, if you use them, you'll most probably be a magician.
I guess, ultimately we'll have to get used to local cards because it gives a impromptu effect.
If not, " sorry, I'm can't do magic because I didnt bring my cards and I can't use your deck"
Aerox, I don't think he is a newbie. More likely he is "old school" veteran.
Brendan Low - September 8, 2005 02:56 AM (GMT)
Card magic can be done with any deck of cards... it depends what u wanna do.
Just dont expect it to fan properly or handle as well.
A lot of people i perform to knows that i use expensive cards to perform, they know its good quality cards and they also know they are normal cards. As for other people those really laymen laymen one.. i tell them this is a deck of normal cards and show it to them only if they ask are they normal cards? when that happens u know that u've been successful in ya magic. they think its gimmicked but then later when u show its just an ordinary deck of cards, it will just amaze them even more :)
I still do magic with decks people give me..... local sticky ones... but of course i do easier tricks, self working ones or those that involves less sleights. these day i dont carry my cards everywhere i go like i used to. hehe

Bill, areyou refering to USD 12.00 or RM 12.00? If it is RM 12.00 and cheaper if the quantity is larger - how much larger, a dozen? 6 dozens, 12 dozens? I'm interested - I use up bikes cards very fast and keep stocks by the dozens.
The reason is I give away my bikes during my restaurant table hopping shows (get paid highly why not give them away and make the owners and good tipping customers happy)

Yes, that's the same Izzat I'm referring to.
Their so-called "team leader" (just the guy who organises the team) is Henzi. He has been on TV a lot because he's also an actor in some Malay dramas and has been in a number of advertisements like Pizza Hut, McDonalds', etc.
If any of you want to be able to perform magic on TV, having the right contacts in the entertainment industry helps a lot. Henzi is playing all his cards right so far in this respect (ha ha... pun intended. "card magic" & "playing his cards right", get it? ;) )
I would like to join in their coming magic special but unfortunately I'm in Sabah now and not in KL where I used to be a few years back.
I'll tell Henzi and gang to come and post in this forum too. (Henzi posts quite regularly in TheMagicCafe.com).
Regards,
Alex
