This is the second book I purchased after reading David Acer's Natural Selections volume 2, his works really inspired me to read more and more of his stuffs. David Acer also a very funny guys and his writings are sounds funny too.

Well, in this latest book by David Acer, you would definitely find some gems in this book, far from beyond exploring his materials, you also have the chance to learn some useful card sleights as well. Some useful forcing techniques, etc. Overall, this is a book that very fun and enjoyable to read. His explanations of the effects are clearly explaianed, nicely illustrated, nicely laid-out, more than 60 effects which cover huge range of stuffs which includes, coins, cards, rings, ropes, matchbook, etc, and on top of that, there are many articles and essays to explore. David also teach some of his marketed effects in this book. Well worth the price.

The effects are not only by David Acer himself, but also contributed by other top names in magic such as Jay Sankey, Joshua Jay, Phil Goldstein, Richard Sanders, etc.

In closing, this is the book that I am truly enjoyable to read, explore and gain some useful insights. If you want to entertain your audience with greatest impact in your magic, then this book is a truly book to read.

Hey Andrew, yikes, another big purchase of magic books eh? hehe

anyway, seems like u always write good comments bout books...hehe
do you have like any bad comments on any books?

Kam - July 1, 2005 04:56 AM (GMT)
You just know that I'm going to reply to this, don't you Andrew ;)

Well, I can give this book my recommendation too. Filled with visual stuff. The book is basically divided into three categories:

1. Card magic
2. Non card magic (stuff that uses everday object)
3. Essays. There are 12 essays on stuff related to magic written by David Acer for his collumn on Genii Magazine.

If you guys were at the hotel after our Nouvo show and saw me doing the 6 of Spades and split it into a 4 of Spades and a miniature 2 of Spades, then I give you the secret: I got it from this book!

David Acer is one of my main influence and fave magician, so I'm sort of partial to his stuff hahahahaha.

Oh ya Eric,

Yes, so far I don't have any bad books in my library, as normally before I purchase a book, I would 200% ensure that the books that I invest are not 'bad eggs', I read lots of reviews, etc, otherwise, wow, it's a burden for me to bear all the costs. :o

I think you do the same right??? ^_^

:o - Nolah, my books where got so many until you guys expect that I have 20,000 books. :!!: - Wow, if I have 20,000 books, hmmmm......... maybe I would be like Gordon Bean already. ^_^

I think you guys know Gordon Bean, right??? :)

Eric,

Alright, one book I think it's not regard as no good or not meet my expectation, that book is "By Forces Unseen" by Ernest Earick.

Even though this book is v v v v d*mn difficult, but I like this book a lot though I also not using many of his stuffs in this book. If you guys have this book, you know what I mean.

Unless, you guys don't mind to spend $33 for that book and you are not using any single materials in it. ^_^

Only 1 effect is extremely easy, his Poker hands gambling effect. ;)

David Acer man... how the hell did he come up with his stuff.

dam0n - July 2, 2005 04:32 AM (GMT)
wuah..looks like a beautifull book... :D
wht other new books have u recently acquired?

Andrew Loh - July 2, 2005 06:58 AM (GMT)
Haha......... Only David Acer himself know how he did come out creative stuffs.

I think maybe if he & Jay Sankey both of them brainstorming together with an effect, surely they will come up something creative or unique. Haha.......... 2 brains are better than 1, am I right??? ^_^

Recently got the Steve Draun underground magic book, wow, awesome but this book more towards to advanced card handler.

I will post my review soonly. ;)

It's a hard and knacky thing to pull off. I'm still learning how to do it with total successfulness (right now it's about 7/10.. not too good). My cousin got it down the minute he learned it.

It's a knacky thing, and when properly executed, it can be a beautiful thing to watch.

Andrew Loh - July 2, 2005 01:00 PM (GMT)
Kamil, yes, I am agree, it's just like flash and visual apperance of the centre card, right?

But, do you sense that when you execute the flipwich, it has some annoying sounds, do you experience this??

I mean how good if when we execute this flipwich, no sounds better right??? Just likep pure magic.
