Hi Guys:

[ Corinda's 13 steps to mentalism has been said to be a bible for mentalism (i wanna get it but shipping is sooooooooo expensive ]

If you are concerned about the shipping cost of books, check out the following link:

http://www.loomismagic.com/booksnew.html

I ordered 2 heavy books + 2 DVDs from the above website and the shipping costs was ONLY USD 15. Compared to other online shops, it could have been > USD 30.

Apart from the much lower shipping costs, the shipping mode that they use - which is "Global Priority Mail" should serve to have your receive your items by within 7 days. Previously when I bought from them, I received it in 6 days and the items were very well packaged.

Hence, if you guys intend to buy some magic items (ESPECIALLY BOOKS), my suggestion is that let us collate all the items and books that we intend to buy, and send an order to loomismagic.com.

FYI, I would be more than happy to be the co-ordinator on this aspect in that you guys give me details of the items that u want to buy, remit monies to me (eg. Bank in to my bank account), and I will send an order which comprise of large items to Mr Loomis. After I have received the items, for those who live in Klang Valley, we can always meet up during the MMF meeting/other places, and I will pass the items to u guys.

That way, we will save A LOT on this shipping costs because it is only USD 15 and it will be shared among the buyers; and I think this is a viable option that we can adopt.

In addition, I was the first Malaysian who ordered from Mr Loomis, and since we order a lot, I could negotiate with Mr Loomis to get even further discounts.

What do you guys think? :!!:

anything by Da Man himself Max Maven (phil goldstein), Prism or maybe Videomind....

Corinda's book is said to be the old testament of mentalism
the new testament of mentalism is "Mind, Myth and Magick" apparently...

PRISM is a collection of 5 (i think) booklets which were out of print for several years....and u're right, Max Maven, is one of the kings of mentalism!
I've watched his Videomind series and they are really good! In my opinion, they are better than the Richard Osterlind DVDs (just my opinion..)

You can check out anything by Richard Osterlind too...I believe he has this new DVD series, not sure of the name

Ohhh...don't forget to check out Patrik Kuffs too...very funny French mentalist!

Jeff Gan - July 18, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
zhuanan,

i'm interested. the next time u placing an order, lemme know. I'll piggy back your order and we can share the shipping costs. gimme a call ok?

thanks.

Jeff Gan - July 18, 2005 02:46 AM (GMT)
zhuanan,

he doesnt have 13 steps to mentalism..

but he has the book eryanic mentioned,...Mind, Myth and Magic....USD 45...wow
i may wanna get prism ...let me know when u placing any orders with loomis ok?

zhuanan - July 18, 2005 01:25 PM (GMT)
Hi Rainking:

Sure no problem...in fact, I am going to post in the Market Square regarding this matter so that if others are interested, then u do not need to wait for me to place the order... ^_^

ICEMAN - August 3, 2005 05:56 AM (GMT)
talkin about Richard Osterlind.. he has got his dvd set called.."easy to master mental miracles"... i bought the set some time back.. and i think its really worth the money...i sitll use a lot of routines from osterlind... it gives a good insight for those who r new to mentalism.. and for those who are experienced in this field.. it sure adds to ur routines..ted lesley has some good routines in his "cabret mind reading" but its a bit slow.... then again depends on the style of the perfomer... to answer an erlier post from Kenningst.. mentalism basically involves a lot of guts to perform more than anythin....:) and from ecperience.. never perform the same trick twice to the same crowd......

Paul Long - August 3, 2005 08:09 AM (GMT)
Iceman

Good to see you here! :D Cool

ICEMAN - August 3, 2005 09:39 AM (GMT)
hi paul... heheh.. thanks to u.. i registered in here.. preety cool forum running here.. anyways. . guesse im gonna b filling in the mentalism page quite a lot.. :)

Joe Xavier - August 4, 2005 01:01 PM (GMT)
Iceman, u do mentalism?
Share ur experience dude...
;)

ICEMAN - August 4, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
mindfreak.. a chris angle fan huh.. cool...;) anyways... yes.. im into mentalism.. started of wit cards.. and a bit of coins.. and currently.. im into mentalism.. well.. ive got a couple of favs.. and one of it is called "decision, decision" .. here.. i take a card from a deck of cards...and pick out 1 card in front of the spectator and put it into a small envelope.. then.. using another pack of cards.. i start putting cards one by one face down and till he says stop.. and when he does.. ill open the card face up.. the one which he stopped me at and ask him if he is sure.. ill also open the card b4 and the card after showing him that he could have picked any one .. and i didnt force him to pick a certain card.. at this point he can still change his mind if he wants..once its done.. ill open the envelope and it will b the card he choose...its a preety impressive feat.. and not too difficult to b performed..
another one which is my fav.. is fannning out a half the deck of cards... and askin a spectator to think of a card.. without touchin the deck... (a magician manipulates to force the card on u .. a mentalist mentally makes u pick it..;) ) anyways.. once its done.. u put away the cards and ask him wat card he thought of.. reach to ur pocket.. and pull out an envelope which has the prediction.. same card as wat he thought... this 2 feats have given a preety good response from the people i have shown it too.. its preety fun to entertain people in this form.. mentalism...

ICEMAN - August 4, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
wat about u mindfreak?? any favourite mentalism feat u have???

Joe Xavier - August 5, 2005 02:03 PM (GMT)
I had Osterlind's set of mind mysteries before...
I usually do the card breakthrough. Its cool...
so far...
been busy with a lot of stuff...
i get inspiration from banachek and corinda...
they're creative....

Paul Long - August 5, 2005 02:36 PM (GMT)
Iceman

Will you perform those mental feats for me when we next meet? Sounds real cool. :o

ICEMAN - August 5, 2005 04:41 PM (GMT)

Peter - August 6, 2005 05:37 AM (GMT)
yo iceman. maybe u can become my "sifu". i am into cards and now trying to learn mentalism at the same time. have been trying to hunt for some materials but its pretty hard to come by...maybe u we can meet up soon and u can light up my path before me..

ICEMAN - August 6, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
kenningst... heheh.. im no great mentalist.. but it would b good to meet up and our knowledge and experience.. not many magicians out there who r really into mentalism... pm me.. we'll meet up sometime soon..

Peter - August 6, 2005 05:58 AM (GMT)
Pmed u my contacts...

Joe Xavier - August 6, 2005 11:08 AM (GMT)
Im not so good in card manipulations and flourishes. I basically do mentalism all these times. Its good and i love the effect...

ICEMAN - August 7, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
benechek has some really cool mentalism routines.. a bit complex.... and good for those wit already some experience on mentalism.. so how long u into mentalism mindfreak?

Joe Xavier - August 9, 2005 05:30 AM (GMT)
not so long...perhaps coming to 2 yrs...
maybe we can share stuff?
;)

ICEMAN - August 9, 2005 10:28 AM (GMT)
yes .. sure.. y not.... it is always good to know people who share the same interest in a field

Peter - August 12, 2005 11:22 AM (GMT)
i really want to start mentalism but don't have the materials and also at the same time i am too broke, probably for the next few months, to get new stuffs to learn. guess i just have to practice what i know for now..

ICEMAN - August 14, 2005 02:47 PM (GMT)
hey Kenningst.. just to let u know.. not all the stuffs involving mentalism is expensive.. u can make a lot of ur own props when it comes to mentalism... and most of the props involves papers.. pencils.. books.. envelopes and deck of cards.. preety affordable if u ask me ;)

Peter - August 15, 2005 03:30 PM (GMT)
by materials i mean dvd, vcd and books... i think proper term is sources...

Adlan - November 3, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
many ways to read ppls minds. ;)

Ben - November 3, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
Do you guys know where to get those cards used for mentalism? I mean those cards with symbols such as circle, square, star, plus, wavy lines. Thanks

Jeff Gan - November 4, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)

U can purchase them online. Maxello carries them i think.

Jarrett Goh - April 5, 2006 04:48 AM (GMT)

David Lai - April 15, 2006 03:56 AM (GMT)
Everybody says read Corinda 13 steps to mentalism,1 got it 2 years back....it bore me to hell..crazee man....it still does but is loaded with info.try it.........or my best buy was all Kenton`s stuff......I got every single product he came out with and Luke Jermay`s...very good,,stuff you can`t find on Dvds and will fool magicians like a kid.Serious.PM me if you wan to know where to get them or I can exchange.

Jeff Gan - April 18, 2006 04:50 AM (GMT)
I've never tried any of Kenton's stuff before.
I'm not too confident of them working, because I lack the presence to pull that kind of stuff effectively.

Do they work for you?

I'm contemplating getting some of his works. Which one do you recommend getting?
