Cards, coins, rings, and even the human predilection for wonder may all be expertly manipulated with the help of this guide to favorite tricks and illusions of the magician's art.

Professor Henri Garenne, the urbane author of this manual on conjuring, intended it as a "guide for amateurs and young beginners." Starting with the basics of palming objects and using props, and progressing through more than 200 tricks, this distinctive volume is a rich resource for the new magician or the armchair prestidigitator.

The lessons involve cards, coins, rings, balls and handkerchiefs. They explain mesmerizing tricks like the Flying Glass of Water and To Produce Eggs from a Person's Mouth. Even more astounding are the Indian Basket trick, The Living Head in a Bottle, and - for a truly stupendous effect - A Lady Suspended in the Air Without Any Visible Support! And those looking for instruction in ventriloquism and thought reading will not be disappointed. The secrets are here.

Elegant vintage engravings demonstrate the tricks and add to the charm of Professor Garenne's delightful treatise.

Review:

I bought this book since quite some time from MPH bookstore, one thing about this book is, I actually don't have the intention to buy this book without reading the reviews and comments from the net or from people, maybe the cover of the book convey the message to me which I bought it because due to had some 'classic' kind of thingy stuffs.

So, let me comment the outlook of this book, well, the book is kind of 'classic', the pages of the book would tell you that this book is kind of wizard or witch's spells bible, if you have the chance, try to see the edges of the book, maybe you will agree with me. :) - Overall, it reminds you it's a bible tomb.

I just wish that if this book is in big and thick format, for sure, that would be great. But, this book is quite small and not very thick though.

About the contents, I would say you can't actually find something that is KILLER or POWERFUL stuffs, all the stuffs covered in this book are mainly classics. It covers stuffs like cards, passes, coins, swords, some big illusions, etc.

It's good to read and research this book as this book contained lots of wealth knowledge about the classics.

Overall, I am satisfied that I had invested the money in this book as the quality of the book as well as the classics magic knowledge covered in this book.
