Title: Magic Shops In Msia?
Aloy - February 22, 2005 04:42 PM (GMT)
I'm thinking of going for a short trip to KL sometime....wondering if there's some magic shop there that I can visit?
Anybody from around there can help me out?
Where do YOU get your magic supplies from?
ChongWei - February 22, 2005 05:41 PM (GMT)
hey there Morphine , you can visit Magic Ring in Berjaya Time Square.. it situated in level 7th .... thats the most / only shop which is good enough... other you can visit petaling street for some stall selling those kinda cheap gimmick.. or Sungei Wang the AndyMagic shop.
I normally get my supply from MagicRing , PenguinMagic.com , as well as ellusionist.com
Brendan Low - February 23, 2005 04:37 AM (GMT)
Yeah, there seem to be a couple or a few magic shops in KL. I believe Magic Ring is one of the largest in KL. I have not been there though. Ive been to Andy Magic in KL. Not much to see/get there. Im sure Magic Ring is much better and better reputation.
Im from Melaka and from what i know, there isnt any magic shops in melaka. I know there is one old uncle who does magic and sells magic at jonker steet. But his is mainly gimmicks and im not into that.

Guys, why do we support piracy? Buy originals man. Support the creators.

You mean all the shops sell pirated stuff?
Brendan Low - February 24, 2005 05:48 AM (GMT)
i have no idea hey. i only been to andy magic once. and i bought his andy magic vids... so i think its original lor.. hehe... if there are pirated stuff... then it would be underground selling, as in not freely displayed to customer. i dunno wat magic ring like but i heard its doing quite well.
Charlston - February 25, 2005 04:59 AM (GMT)
magic shop, u guys miss one out in kl.
MAGIC RING
ANDY MAGIC
CHEE CHION KAI
AND..............
PUDU STATION, NEW MAGIC CENTRE
NEW MAGIC CENTRE IS A PLACE WHERE A REAL LIFE SALES MAN LIFES
HE PROVIDE REAL ORIGINAL STUFF(got a bit pirated only)
C`MON guys, we are malaysian,
its a pirated heaven?!
BUT,,,,, i`ll truly support original stuff during my most economy stable period.
its been debated in my college last time abt piracy...
result?
NO WINNERS!!!
so plz to those who live OVERSEA....
not every parents are RICH...
SOME TIMES u OVERSEA guys need to understand some learners here are just leisure magic learners.JUST LIKE LEISURE MOVIE WATCHER! buying very AFFORDABLE vcd is something fair and square...U PAY MORE U GET MORE....because some magic vcd like ANDY magic ones are SSSSUX.. AND CHEAPER OF COURSE!
u know wat?
even the government LOWER THE PRICE OF ORIGINAL VCD!!
tis is simply because they want consumer to be able to keep the affordabality on supporting original!! same quality, small difference in pricing, Y GO FOR PIRATED STUFF IF TAT THING HAPPENED TO MAGIC VCD?
PLZ, all magic friends here, if u can afford ori, just go ahead......its healthy....
SO I CONCLUDE BY SAYING HAVING FRIENDLY DEBATE IS ALSO A FUN PART IN GETTING ALONG TOGETHER AMONG FRIENDS...
ChongWei - February 25, 2005 05:57 AM (GMT)
PUDU Station ? where's it ?? been asking around.. but still cant locate that shop yet..
and as for the ori issue, ofcos, i'll support at every chances i had.. thats why i shop from penguin/ellu ... but the thing is... since magic ring a.k.a the "well known" a.k.a the "only" proper shop is NOT selling ori stuff.. how can we NOT getting pirated stuff ?
Charlston - February 25, 2005 06:09 AM (GMT)
PUDU Station ? where's it ?? been asking around.. but still cant locate that shop yet..
go to pudu and look for shop LIST which is on top of every shop row entrance...
u can find NEWMAGIC CENTRE..
if u come across a shop displaying horrifying magic mask....tat is the magic shop...
and as for the ori issue, ofcos, i'll support at every chances i had.. thats why i shop from penguin/ellu ... but the thing is... since magic ring a.k.a the "well known" a.k.a the "only" proper shop is NOT selling ori stuff.. how can we NOT getting pirated stuff ?
I agree on wat u say, plus, the original country is making hell lots of profit from its original country, IN OVERSEA, PIRACY IS A BIG CRIME....
so, IF THOSE kuai lou want us malaysian to support their so called original products, LOWER THE PRICE LIKE MOVIES AND MTV`S ORIGINAL VCD PRICE LA!!
CORRECT OR NOT??
also buying original means we weaken malaysia'S curency exchange, we send MONEY to kuai lou, AWAY FROM MALAYSIA!! if we buy pirated, the money still flowing within malaysia!!
MALAYSIA BERJAYA!!!
plz, debate more on issue like tis, love to hear from u guys....
ChongWei - February 25, 2005 06:28 AM (GMT)
ROTFLOL eugie.. you're damn right... and damn funny... hah! "if we buy pirated, the money still flowing within malaysia!!" this never even come accross my mind... good one! *salute*
Brendan Low - February 25, 2005 09:50 AM (GMT)
Hmmm this is going to be a debatable topic. I cant say that I never bought off friends nor exchanged or trade with them pirated stuff b4 coz i have and i know most of us do. The thing is i know they is aught to have piracy of VCD trading and circulating around, between friends and all as well as buying them cheaper at certain magic shops. And yes, yugie i understand that not everyone has the money to buy original stuff. Ive been doing magic for over 2 yrs now and i see more and more people and young people getting to art now. its amazing and sumtimes horrifying because i just wonder where all these young people get their money from? yeah i know of some who save and buy ori stuff but im sure that many cant afford it especially in malaysia.
Our currency is v small and original stuff cost us a fortune. BUT look at wat this is doing to the art of magic? A few questions for us all to think abt.
1) Is not magic for those who are interested in learning and not ONLY for the RICH who can afford? This is always an argument.
2) If someone just teaches or revealls the secret of magic or free share their items or magic vids to others... i believe that magic would soon die coz almost everyone would know how the magic is done. Furthermore, they are not interested in performing. These people just want to know the secret and oneday be hackling people. That is wat i hate abt when i see people telling secrets to normal laymen. Some people dont appreciate the art of magic. i dunno why.... maybe coz they cant seem to perform well and thus try to spoil the art of magic.
all i wanna say is i hope that we are all genuine magicians here who are keen to learn more abt the art of magic and to entertain people with it. As magicians we should have respect for the art. Whether you buy original stuff or pirated is up to you. And if u do sell pirated or wanna teach people , pls.. i say again pls... choose ya student or the person you sell to properly. For me... i am v selective and actually prefer to keep the secret to myself. i dont see magic as a business or making money off someone else. i see it as an ART.
So pls respect the ART of magic.
Cheers

Hi folks,
For me, firstly I WILL NOT SUPPORT PIRACY LIKE BOOKS, DVDS, VIDEOS, etc!
You see, the magicians have strained their brain to think out the effects, new principles, secrets, etc, and if this kind of piracy going on, the publishers will be AFFECTED as well as the authors. :(
You see, piracy has open the pathway to many people which anyone can learn and access the magic secrets and materials. When a person (unlike us, we are true magicians) does not really into the magic and he watches the secrets and next time when you perform or he might feel some EGO, he will FIND TROUBLE WITH YOU. I think you know what I mean!!!! He will rather try to ruin your show. You have to think other way to get rid this guys in your performance otherwise, it's a disaster for you.
Depends, like those folks you mentioned to locations at the above, be careful, some sellers sell you bad and damaged items. You have to examined very carefully. I bought the 3 linking and unlinking ropes last time most probably 5 years ago, that sellers sold me BAD ropes as last time, I was not that experience at that time and they didn't do their business honestly and cleanly. :(
I normally purchase from US and UK magic shop and they provided me great service, items are quality and I am really satisfied their service.
Depends how you look it again folks but please........... don't support piracy DVDs, Ebooks, Book, etc. :( - We have to be act professional and support the publishers and authors.
Best Wishes,
Andrew Loh
h_A_Z - February 25, 2005 02:14 PM (GMT)
Andrew I'm with you on this. It's just a matter of time before they actually ban delivering magic DVDs to Malaysia
ChongWei - February 25, 2005 05:28 PM (GMT)
does that mean that every single application in your pc right now.. is ALL original ?? its always a contrast.. when you're the creator... you'll want everyone support you... the same like song, when you over charge it, people with no choice... but to get from SAME QUALITY , EXTRA BONUS , HALF A PRICE CDs... "How do they live if they dun make money?" ... i personally think it's just asking for too much...
I myself support ori at every chance I can ... but i admit that I DO get pirated stuff sometimes...
(If its not about those p2p sharing system , do you think a song can be that popular in that short of period? .. .think about it... sometimes, it helps in other way... ) this just my own opinion... no offend...
Charlston - February 27, 2005 12:58 PM (GMT)
good good good,
wat u think mr b??
did i do a good job in making members to talk more??
did i do a good job to heat up the club??
hehhehe
muahahaha.....
TO BE CONTINUE.......................
Brendan Low - February 27, 2005 03:00 PM (GMT)
Ok guys. can we stop talking abt piracy and all pls? Im kinda tired hearing abt this discussion.
Lets all just talk abt the Magic Shops in Msia. Talk in terms of customer service, magicians who work there, skills, prices, availability of magic products etc.

Hi MagicB,
That would be a great idea. :)
But, have to confirm with you again of my schedule.
If yes, what time we leave Melaka??
Andrew
Andrew Loh - March 6, 2005 02:20 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,
Back to pirated DVDs again which circulated in the market, I think there's high probability that when you perform the fellow magicians, there are less impressive, either they had the DVDs already, know and learn the secrets already.
You see, when MagicB and I when we both meetings together and we both show off some our our tricks, when I perform let's say Michael Ammar's (which preety nrmal to all of you guys here) magic in his DVD, MagicB will feel like not really entertained enough because he already watched and learned the magic already.
That's the drawback of pirated DVDs. If you are lucky enough, you can fool your magic friends if he didn't have or belong the DVDs which you perform the stuffs from in that DVDs.
Normally, due to that, I would seldom perform magic tricks directly from DVDs as I know if I meet any here, there are high chances that I can't fool you with the stuffs from DVD like Michael Ammar, Aldo Colombini, Dan Harlan, etc.
I am still prefer perform magic stuufs from books.
What do you think folks??????????
Andrew
ChongWei - March 7, 2005 03:03 AM (GMT)
Dear Andrew,
So your main concern is to fool magician with the trick you learn ? then i suggest you have your own "variaition" or created ya own one.. hehe.. the thing is, sometimes, when you know the secret/move.. you can "detect" the move and how it works when you first see it...
I dunno about books.. as I dont own any of those good book yet... would like to get one ... but dunno where to start with..
Brendan Low - March 7, 2005 06:25 AM (GMT)
Yo Andrew, who say me not entertain by ya magic? im impress with it man. Even though i may already know wat sleights u use, i am still entertained. I like to see how people perform even though i may alreay know the trick. i like to see people's style as each of us are different. like to see their patters and their actions and movements.
of course it will stun laymen more than magicians la but i still think magicians enjoy watching magic maybe more than laymen coz magicians like me am impress with how people perform. I mean if u perform to me a card trick and "if" i think it could be done better.. i will surely comment and we can discuss to see how we can improve it better. i mean that is the only way we know our mistakes and to improve on it. But so far, i must say almost all ya routines or magic u showed me are impressive. And yeah perhaps its good to also learn from e-books as some effects are taught there are less commercialised into vid teachings.
i have a few e-books myself and will find time to read anf learn from it as i know they can be quite different from DVDs and may be more magicial :)
Andrew Loh - March 7, 2005 12:48 PM (GMT)
Hi MagicB & afoi,
Yeah! You see, when we meet which our paths are the same and if I perform the materials from DVDs, you will not really impress, right???
You will say in your heart, "Oh! I know this trick which in........ blah.....blah". You will expect something DIFFERENT or you have not SEEN before, am I right?
Yeah! I like magicians fool me with something different or their variations of their tricks which they learned from whatever source.
Andrew
