Title: Generation Extreme With Brian Tudor
Description: For those who have the Generation X...

Jeff - August 2, 2005 03:52 AM (GMT)
Hello everyone, if you have any questions about the moves in Generation X please feel free to discuss here as from what I understand, there was a problem… In Generation X Tudor focused on demonstrating his revolutionary new routines, but he glossed right over the instructional sections. I will try my best to help as much as I can as Tudor slows down and re-teach the material very well in Generation Extreme.

1. Spring Change
2. Perfect Riffle Shuffle

I just can't get them right!

1. Spring Change
It’s very important that your cards are not abused and they square well together (I find it easier to do with an old deck as the cards are softer and easier to spring). Place the cards EXACTLY half way down, half way out jogged, and then spring the cards (I don’t do a wide spring, just about the length of 2 playing cards is enough for me).

2. Perfect Riffle Shuffle
Get into the position of in the hands riffle shuffle and place your thumbs as in the pictures (notice the differences). Release the individual cards with thumbs, put those two together and do it at the same time as fast as possible so the actions are more together. The very best tip he gave is just practice, practice, and practice. If you can only start dropping 2 cards then just keeps on going. Tudor practiced it for about one and half to two years, 3 to 4 hours per day. Hit it 20 times every morning when he wakes up before he goes into other moves.

cool.... thanks for sharing.

BTW, whose hands are those? urs or tudors? hehe.. the cards looks darn small in that hands.

This place is so quiet. I guess no one has problem learning from Generation X. I wonder why PenguinMagic produce Generation Extreme?

Brendan Low - August 9, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
jeff, not everyone has GenX and not everyone is into flourishing.

That's why its so quiet in here... lol... Hope to recruit more flourishers in the future.

Brendan

Okay, thanks. I thought most of us have it. Now just leave this topic to rest in peace.

Kam - August 9, 2005 05:09 AM (GMT)
I still can't do those 2 moves. Ah screw them lol...

Jeff - August 9, 2005 05:18 AM (GMT)
Kam, I’m sorry. I tried my best to explain them. For the spring change I don’t see why you can’t do it. By the way, the shuffle is kind of hard to make it perfect but I guess who will perform the shuffle? I don’t.

Yea, hence the title: Showoff. It's just for showing off, really ;)

ps. I feel weird that it's no more dok hahahah

Ignatius - August 9, 2005 05:54 AM (GMT)
Maybe you should change the name to add a 01 or something because I almost thought is the Kam from Pentrix browsing our forums. As in the pen spinning fren of De`vo.

You’re right.

Brendan Low - August 9, 2005 09:57 AM (GMT)
hehe yeah Aerox, Kam really reminds of the pen spinning dude in superhands.... oh well... its ok i guess.... lots of people have the same name. Dok/Kam if u want me to change ya nick again let me know lol :)

Who likes showing off with their cards? I know i would like to if i have the skillz... that's wat flourish or XCM is all abt so... yeah. Its takes skills.... to show off. Brian Tudor is one of the best in my opinion.

Brendan

I hope we won’t go off-topic but yeah, Brian Tudor is the best (not one of the ‘bests’). B) So, no more question about Generation X? Alright, let’s shut this topic down. ;)

Kennard - August 9, 2005 12:29 PM (GMT)
do questions from brian tudors' show off one and show off 2 count. Because i m having problems with the one handed revolution. He doesnt show properly.

Brendan Low - August 10, 2005 12:23 AM (GMT)
one hand revo.... hehehe.. my fav :)

wat prob do u have? i think it explains pretty well in showoff 1/2.

just remember that ya middle finger aint suppose to touch the packet as it rotates to the bottom. i rotate them at the tips of my fingers... :)

keep praticing. i can do on both hands now but my unnatural hand still needs work... aint flowy yet... it will take time to get used to the rotation.

Hope u get it one day. its a great cut to do. once u master them u can practice on making it false.

Cheers,
Brendan

Jeff - August 10, 2005 07:10 AM (GMT)
Huh? I thought he explain it in details in Showoffs? I wasn’t very smooth in doing that but I master it unconsciously while practicing Sybil 2. :P Alright, I’ll get back to you ASAP. Got to go now…

Kennard - August 10, 2005 11:08 AM (GMT)
Do i need to push the lower half up with my other fingers while i turn the upper half with my thumb and index ? He didnt really show that in detail. :( And i'm still a newbie. hehe.

Thanks,.

Brendan Low - August 10, 2005 11:21 AM (GMT)
hmmm...

do u really have the explanations/clip? lol... if yes, i think it will be obvious which fingers u would use to rotate the packet. <_<

without much exposure to this move, i can only say that if u have 1 thumb and 2 fingers (index and ring), thats all u need to do this move. that itself i think is a great tip.

its harder to explain in words and ... i think his visual explanation is much clearer. i cant expose the moves here as it is not my move. lol

keep practicing.. its does not oneday to learn and get it right. welll it takes a day to learn but long time to get it right, depends how much u practice on it.

Pls PM me if u have further Qs. but for now... practice.. practice for 2 weeks.. if still cannot then PM me.

Hope this helps,
Brendan

Kennard - August 10, 2005 12:21 PM (GMT)
I have the vid .LOL.

Show off 1; one hand rev is the first move. I figured that that move is important to learn other moves so i must be able to do it.
 Coz in the vid, he didnt show how to get to the first half of the revolution. He did say clip it with which fingers. :D

But what i'm asking is, do i have to push the lower half upwards with the remaining fingers or the movement is just natural ?

Hah. I will continue practising. If by 2 weeks I still can't get it right, i PM u la. HEHe.

Also, is it advisable to learn show off 2 without knowing how to do revolution ?
I find its sister cut ( revolution 2 ) easier to do. LOL

thanks.

Jeff - August 11, 2005 03:24 PM (GMT)
Use your thumb to cut the deck, rotate it anticlockwise and clip the deck between your 1st and 3rd finger, push it in with your first finger and that’s what make the rotation.

Brendan, give a review of Generation Extreme here if you can as I don’t have the old one so I don’t know how much Tudor has improved in his teaching.

Jeff - September 10, 2005 07:49 AM (GMT)
Hey Brendan, please share with us the differences between the old Generation X and the new Generation Extreme as I think you are the only one here owns them both. I really want to know like the differences of Triumph 2 and 3 also I heard there are some differences for The Man From New York and everything else. Thank you. :)

Brendan Low - September 10, 2005 07:52 AM (GMT)
i havent had a chance to look thru the new one yet.

All i know is the old one is just vvvvv boring and i couldnt be bothered learning the routines.

I will let u know once i really study his materials. Im sure the new one is a lot better as he explains it as he does the move. the old one he just talk on top on his clips... v monotone and boring lol

Jeff - November 18, 2005 07:51 AM (GMT)
