Title: Rigging Your Room For Magic
Description: brainstorm !!
Chern - August 8, 2005 03:58 AM (GMT)
hey...
I was just wondering if any of you ever rigged your room up to do magic. Like well prepared stuff that is always around your room. So that when people come to your room, you could "spontaneously" create TRUE magic...
any ideas ? any suggestions ? any experience ?
Possibly with such elaborate "spontaneous" prep, we could maybe pull a burger out of a picture...
the few that I have tried are preplanted cards... and stuff like that.. but then i dont' think planting cards in your own room is magical at all... was kinda fun when I did it, but, i don't think i'll do it again.
would be great to hear your opinions and suggestions.

hehe.... great idea. Its always great when a visitor come into ya room and spontaneously u can do ya magic there and then.
planting cards can be good but not as magical as planting cards outside ya room.... out of in the streets. i think if u r an IT person, then u can figure out a way to use it and u know levitate anything u want in ya room.. people will just go wow.... after seeing u can make things float.
besides playing with IT in ya room, i guess u can also implant some predictions or some direction/clues. u can do so many things if u are creative eg. card through window etc.... I dunno.. invent ya own magic and patter. the room is urs and ur in control be creative and make use of watever objects u have.
make ya room as magical as possible.

For Wizards, having a magic room in your house for meeting with clients is extremely important. In fact we have been publishing one article per issue of The Wizards' Journal devoted to decorating your Wizard's Den. Past articles included a seeing-eye skull, an electronic crystal ball, talking books and book shelves, self-lighting candles, and most recently - talking Tiki Masks for your walls. The Wizards' Journal is on-line at my site.

My room already set like a show room for example my bed , underneath of my bed i custom made a wooden floor high 10 inches just like parlour stage and it is beside my window . i always invite my friend come to my house then practice some new parlour effect .
Usually i will perform like bottle cap thru bottle cause my room alot bottle carbonate drink some card magic , coin magic and that's it

My room has no magic but when someone comes inside the room they immediately know that my room is a magicians room because my room has:-
-51 cards stuck on my ceiling
-3 other cards stuck to my window
-Ellusionist Uncut Black Tiger deck poster on my wall
-My magic shelve right in front of my room door
-4 other smaller posters on my wall
-Cards all over my floor( Most of the time I don't have time to pick up all the cards after practicing my card manipulation routine)
-More to come. :P
For creating magic, when people comes into my room, I will ask them to pick any card, then lost it into the pack, the card then vanishes from the deck, and then...every single card on my ceiling shows their faces, which means you can see what the cards are EXCEPT FOR ONE VERY CARD WHICH IS FACED DOWN, nobody knows what card is it, I then stand on my bed, jump like a monkey to get the card, and the card...is their VERY SELECTED CARD. It is something I came up with while attaching the card to my ceiling. Good effect which I love performing.

haha Jarret.. u stick 51 cards on ya ceiling? I thought of doing that last time.. but then I thought again and said "nolah".
For me... hmm somehow people know I do magic before they step in my room.
Even if strangers go in my room.. they at least know I love cards... coz they are at least 4 decks on my computer table and some around my badside table.
Also, as soon as they open my room door, they get to see a nice display of card collection in my see through cupboard.
I dont have any posters except for Ps Lawrence Kong and Pricillia Kong (his daughter).
I wish I can have Blaine's poster..... or perhaps Dai Vernon, D&D Bucks, Tudor, whoever la.... They sure v expensive one.. so yeah...

Someone's enjoying this a little too much.
Anyway, my room is rigged for sleeping. I wouldn't know what to rig it with anyway. Jarrett, you gotta post a picture of your room, man. I'm sure a lot of us want to see.

Don't worry, he's not talking about a pic of your backside, that would be creepy.
We're talking about a pic of your magic-rigged room. Post a pic, dude.

Oh...I need to wait until my dad comes to Australia, he's coming this Friday. I don't have a camera with me, my computer is not in my room.

really cool idea !!! will definitely try it out... but.. 52 cards on my ceiling... hmm.. doesn't look normal.. that is A LOT of cards...
i certainly love the idea of having cards everywhere but with one card unnoticably being different from the rest...
hmm.... =)
gotta try it out still...
what if i offer them a drink.. and make the drink come to me?
or offer them food from a drawer.. that opens itself when i say.. "help yourself to some chips"

Whenever people ask on MSN "What's up", I would go "Cards on my ceiling". :P
Cards on ceiling pictureSorry, but I had to crop it badly to fit a 500KB size to convert into an IMG tag using pixpond, so basically that's not even half of what I have on my ceiling. There are few on my windows too. And also on the bottom left, that's my Ellusionist Black Tiger poster! My Michael Jackson poster is not shown there.
