Brendan Low - August 9, 2005 10:03 AM (GMT)
Rainking, this is the opportunity for u dude. I wish I can go but im working that week and cant go. I always wanted to master TT but never had much education or practice on it. There's so much u can do with it. Its much more than just TT and Handkerchief. I think for those who is interested in learning more abt TT and its full application, this seminar will be worthwhile. Besides, u gonnna learn from a pro. Awesome.

Jeff Gan - August 9, 2005 12:15 PM (GMT)
i dont think i can attend as I work saturdays. plus, now i'm rushing 2 nationwide projects, so its hard.

Paul Long - August 9, 2005 10:40 PM (GMT)
I'll be going so if any of youa re going, it will be alos nice to meet some of you there.

Anslem Roy - August 10, 2005 09:14 AM (GMT)
Thanks for your kind words guys. It's great to finally be able to contribute to the artform and make it respectable.

God knows there are those out there whose motives are otherwise questionable.

Met a fellow in KL recently, when I got back from Korea, who proudly showed me his business card. Profession read 'professional magician'. In the course of the conversation, he shared that he has been learning magic for 2 years and is now ready to do "the big shows for the big companies". Did I feel threatened? Not even a bit ... for one, he was speaking "the England" .

So me being me, I asked him to show me a coin vanish and he proudly did. Almost choked.....what an embarrassment! One would have to be blind to not see the steal and the subsequent flash.

I went away thinking of the number of clients that this fellow is going to sell himself to and make a mockery of our craft. That would really be sad.

33 years in the business and I still say that I am learning. You are only as good as your last performance....keeps one humble.

Only Malaysia Boleh! But I ask "Betul-kah?"

Mmmmmm...something to chew on isn't it.

Happy magic-ing :D

BTW...only 12 seats left for the TT lecture. I designed it for magicians but the irony right now is that there are more lay people than magicians. Only goes to show

Brendan Low - August 10, 2005 10:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah... actually ive been to spore last yr to meet some magicians there and i tell u lots of them have magic biz cards. i was like wow.. how cool. i even thought of getting one made for myself. but nah... no need la. prefer to be known via word of mouth. hehe... if im good im good, if no good then no good. lol.. i feel that if i got biz cards it kinda straight away says im good/qualified... lol

I think these generation magician, there are many many young magicians out there... some are really good and some are really really bad (but think they are good <_< ). some remain underground abt their profile. sometimes i feel that those that boast abt themselves really are not as good as u think they are. so yes, its good to remain humble.

again, magic is abt showman ship. flash or wat, many sees it as a form of entertainment....as long as u can entertain ur ok.. hmm... some people have great skills but cant entertain, some flash all the time but can entertain. lol.... seldom u can find one who has both. funny isnt it?

yes, every magician is always seeking to learn and create new stuff. we are always learning :)

Anslem, its great to have you here and ya advice and tips are always appreciated :). Its great to have someone with much experience here to guide us. B) Awesome.... hope u can visit our site often as u can and let us know abt the latest magic scene and happenings :P.

hehe more lay people sign up for the class? actually how would u know if they are lay people? they may be underground magicians with skills.. hehe u'll never know. if really some are noobs and have no magic experience, then they must be passionate abt it to sign up for the lecture... :)..

Ive seen pics in ya websites and how i wish i can join u guys... but the thing is im in melaka. sigh.. hehe oh well...

Cheers,
Brendan

Due to a few last minute cancellations, there are now 5 places
that have opened up again for the TT Perfection Lecture.

If you are interested please contact us quickly. It's this Saturday
morning 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. I would like to give preference to
magicians over the "lay folk".

the "Lectures & Workshops" section.

Now, if some of you guys are having problems with the payment,
call me and we will work something out...not a discount....but
maybe break it up into 2 payments.

Anslem,

I'm kicking myself for not being able to attend this one. :(
I keep missing all the good stuff again and again...

But this is really good for us (esp newbies like me) and I hope you will conduct more of these classes in the future (and hope you will conducts them on Sundays instead, hint, hint ;) )

who went for the lecture.
Please share your experience.
Hope you guys havre a great time.....i just saw message..:(

Paul Long - August 29, 2005 05:00 AM (GMT)
Go to the magicannexe website and you will see some pics.

Went to the workshop and it was excellent. My only complain is that there was not enough time to cover finer details of so many ideas. So a lot of stuff was "theory" as we rushed through (even after we went overtime for almost an extra half an hour). :( For once the basics were covered, it was full steam ahead.

BUT even then it was still good "practical theory", meaning that if you know the basics of handling a TT and are willing to work throught the many ideas given and apply them, you could do a whole show just using a TT. Following the tips given, with practice and guts, you could also use a TT in close up situations where you are almost practically surrounded without getting busted. Now that's a challenge.
It is not just one effect or half a dozen effects but DOZENS of COOL effects. :D

ICEMAN - August 29, 2005 06:59 AM (GMT)
TT lecture was worth every single ringgit we payed for it.. in fact i could say tat nowhere can u find a TT lecture from a professional magician wit a vernet and a silk .. with refreshments and a bookelt for tat price....
the lecture gave a preety good insight about handling the TT which included the the basics asn wrong techniques on handling it .. i think the TT gave everyone an idea of how useful it can b to a magician....as a whole i would give the lecture an 8 out of 10 as it gave a preety good insight about handling the tt... a very beneficial lecture indeed!

Paul Long - August 29, 2005 07:34 AM (GMT)
Oh, and the free silk thrown in was indeed superb. 12 inch silk that fits comfortably into a TT. it cost more than the vernet TT! :o

Kam - August 30, 2005 03:35 AM (GMT)
