Hahaha......... If here is US or UK, I would like to work with them man.

I think I like Scotland and London, I heard that they are actively selling their magic stuffs in a small booths which located at the park, wow, at the mean time, can enjoy the scenery and friendly environment.

I wish to have this kind of experience. One day, think will visit Scotland to meet some of my magic friends there. ^_^

Andrew

Joe Xavier - August 12, 2005 04:21 AM (GMT)
Planning to visit Scotland next year...
I think Europe sells more magic items...as in the antique kinds...
I collect playing cards...maybe they sell more original vintage decks...
US sells cards too but reprints of vintages...

Brendan Low - August 12, 2005 04:35 AM (GMT)
i wanna go too lol... never been to europe.. but it sure gonna be vvvvv expensive man.

WTH, with good company and good magicians with hang out with... its gonna be awesome..

But before we go to Europe and all.. why dont we have a magician road trip to Spore? Wouldnt that be cool?

Ok, im off topic now... back to the recruitment from M.R.

so for those going to work there... wow.... do share with us ya experience there man.... sigh... :(

Ill just be at home practicing my flourish and talking to myself doing magic... lol. What a life... lol... i wanna go KL oneday and jam again. I might be going down next weekend... will let u all know.

Andrew Loh - August 12, 2005 02:49 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,

To be honest, open a magic shop is not an easy task, a magic shop which setup in Melaka 3 years ago, I knew that uncle, and he told me that without ample support, the magic shop it's difficult to survive.

The shop finally closed down, it was a sad news. :(

Andrew

Just a thought... having a local magic shop near you does not necessarily mean you will purchase stuff from them. A lot depends on the quality of the goods, the cost, the stuff the sell etc.

Joe Xavier - August 12, 2005 04:39 PM (GMT)
well....
a magic shop is better than no magic shop...

Brendan Low - August 13, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
hehe.... 3-4 years ago and now is different. Now there's so many interested people wanting to learn the art of magic.

i dunno and am not familiar with the shop andrew is talking abt as i was still overseas studying. I dunno abt the service or the people working in the shop. I think its all abt the people and the marketing and creating interest. if u can amaze ya customers with some wonderful effects, then u will get a crowd. Ellusionist.com is one site which really got me into magic. their marketing skills is Top Notch... every trailer i see in it... i feel like wow.. but then that's an online shop

so wat im saying is its not whether there's a magic shop or not where u guys live. its whether those working in there are able to create attention and make customers be interested. If passer-by see the magicians in the shop like dead dead or sitting down and goyang kaki... who will go in? its dead! people working there should be pro-active and not be in the room at the back doing nothin. rather than wait for customers to come into ya shop, go out there and start performing.

also, the outloook, and music/atmosphere is also important. lol.. it might be easier said than done huh? :P oh welll...

for those who are outstation, i think what u guys can do is to talk to the people like avery in magic ring and ask if they can do online purchase or call in purchase. thus far i think there is market as many magicians out of klang valley do not have access to magic materials. if enough ppl talked to these guys to let them know that there is demand for postage delivery, i think they will consider it cause business is business. i talked to them b4 but they don't seem to be keen on it cause it has no demand...

someone might wanna try on this... :D

Brendan Low - August 13, 2005 06:07 AM (GMT)
No much demand, thats prob the truth and real reason for no having shops in other states... they are depending on active magicians/flourishers like us to create and spark up a demand for magic in msia. So guys go do want u do best!

Cheers!
Brendan

If i had the capital...
It'd be great to start a magic shop online...

Andrew Loh - August 14, 2005 01:52 PM (GMT)
I have a big dream of opening a magic shop online, but sometimes I am still doubt whether this kind of business can be survived in long term or sustain or not?? :(

I find it's difficult to do as you know, a lot of people nowadays like to copy things and actually should not take lightly about the matter.

If selling ebooks, also difficult as easy to duplicate, selling books they can print and sell them, a lot of barriers. -_-

Sigh......... :(

Andrew

Peter - August 15, 2005 03:04 PM (GMT)
talking about online shops, we already have awlfm on the progress of doing it. if he can make it a long term business, then i think it could work and have a market here in malaysia...
