If you are planning to teach magic, then it should be done in a closed or restricted forum. Then only bonafide magicians can have access to your help.
Placing the secrets of our craft in an open forum where it is exposed to all and sundry, will only cheapen our artform.
It should be an area of major concern to all who love the craft.
Remember if you will the ramifications of the Secrets Revealed series....how this really hurt magic as a whole....not just in one place but worldwide.
It cheapened the craft tremendously. As a regular performer my audiences do not think of the secret of the magic due to the emphasis on the presentation, but what is bad is the average joe who tells his friends loudly "Aaaiya....I also know how to do....got see on TV mah!" even though what he is seeing is a totally different magic trick from that exposed.
It is all about creating a negative perception amongst our audience. Even if one person knows, be rest asssured that the entire group around him will lose respect for the presentation.
Hope this helps in giving some guidelines to this.

haha... i tend to teach flourishes more freely compared to magic. Why? coz there's really no secrets to flourish is there?
But u know that there are people who earns money just by performing XCM or Flourishes... :P
There are some creators of flourishes out there and their stuff are being taught in Flourish DVDs. Teaching/advicing people face to face on the moves in the DVDs is actually OK for me... but if u wanna teach people's move on by making a tute... then thats gonna affect the demand of the DVD.
In other forums... such as Dan and Dave, u can make tutes.. no problem.. BUT they have to be original moves. Not the ones learnt from the DVDs.
So yeah, if u are a creative person and wanna share with people ya own original moves, u are more than welcome to make a tute for us. Then next time we use ya move, we will credit you. Its always important to credit people's move.
For those who do not know what flourish is.... go to www.dananddave.com/forum and go watch people's vids there. There's some awesome tutes of people's move there. :)... go learn and be sure to credit them if u use it in ya vids.
Cheers!

haha.... prob cause they know to it takes lots and lots of time to practice flourish while magic does not take as much time. hmm... well it depends actually.... flourish takes skillz...., magic is more presentation and entertainment.

So are you a better magician or flourisher?
Probably a redundant question, as you are probably both magician and flourisher.

i would not say im better in magic nor flourish. Neither... actually i wont know how to comment. Truth is i dont know as much in terms of card magic compared to flourish. im more in tune when in comes to flourish. i know who is who etc etc. magic is too wide for me to focus on. i enjoy doing magic or flourish at different times. it depends who i am around with. if all magicians then ill try to keep it w magic. but if got flourishers... then of course ill will flourish away with them.
i enjoy both as much... but i spend more time on flourish as i dont get to perform everytime! i get kick out of magic only when i perform to people. if i perform to myself... i funny so i rather do flourishes when im alone, build the skills up.
i always try to find routines in card magic that will allow rooms for some fancy cuts and flourish and productions. i think this is where magic is moving these days. lots of creators and pros are actually putting flourishes into their card magic routines! Awesome!
