Does anyone have this?
This review from the penguin site made me think twice. Can anyone tell me if there's gonna be a problem?

This DVD stinks really really bad!!! Well, many people love this DVD but as I'm not from USA and the UK there is no substitution for these forks Morgan recommends, as you can read in the description it says something like "Morgans Impossible Bend", and that's true, it really is impossible!! The teaching is excellent and it's fun to watch him doing it on the streets but I haven't learned anything from this!!! Seriously, nothing!!!!! If I can get those forks it will probably be good, but I bought this DVD since December 2004 and I've being looking everywhere to find those stupid forks!!
The reason why I so bought this DVD is because of I wanted to get in to metal bending but when I got it Morgan said that there is a highly recommended fork and they only sold it in the USA and I thought "That's it!".
Great job Morgan as a teacher, really bad job for the tricks.
Don't buy this if you are not living in the USA, UK and Australia.

Morgan Stebler’s Liquid Metal gives you a good routine that constist of all the good effects in metal bending.
Gerry & Banachek's Psychokinetic Silverware gives clear teaching in the psychology of the bending but not that much in the methodology. however, Patrick Kuff's Metal Bending gives you a better teaching in the methodology of bending but less in the psychology.
I think it's good to get this 3 DVD because the compliment one another.

thanks for the advise.
will look our for Patrick Kuff's materials.
Jeff - August 30, 2005 05:01 AM (GMT)
just use some really cheap forks that they use in cheap 'ko pi tiam'..
Jeff Gan - August 30, 2005 05:08 AM (GMT)
i got a few dozen forks i've been using for practice,...dont want the ones which are too soft...
don't give credibility ...at the same time, the harder ones can help u train for even stronger spoons in case u're asked to do it impromptu at at restaurant.
however some of the hotel silverware, think u need pliers man. somemore, dont want the hotel to bill me for some expensive cutlery..."that would be RM 60.99 for your meal and RM 50 for the fork you damaged...."
How about the rest of u guys? ever come across some spoons u can't bend?

Rainking: I bought a copy of this video from Penguin.
Worth every hard earned cent (I bought it in Aussie dollars when the USD was weak).
There is 30 minutes ++ of performance. It doesn't get any better than that!
Morgan is kinda creepy, but his mis*** skills are second to none.
I would recommend you buy the original.

Exactly, don't use those which are too soft. If you want to get cheap spoons and forks, just get them in large quatity. I normally get 5 dozens and above and it'll probably last me for 2-3 months depends on how many shows I have.
Rainking: ever come across some spoons u can't bend?
I often encounter that in hotel.

Richard Osterlind's Mind Mysteries Vol 3: This one as good as Gerry & Banachek's Psychokinetic Silverware. Maybe even sleightly better because RO not only covers the psychology and methodology of the bending, he also gives you a good routine.
David Williamson’s Sleight of Dave Vol 2: Teaches you spoon bending in a comedy and close-up style. Uses gimmick.
Charlie Frye’s Eccentrick Vol 1: Teaches you D.Williamson's spoon bending in a comedy and stage performance style. Uses gimmick.

Gregory Wilson's On The Spot : Teaches you spoon bending in a fast space and street magic style.
R Paul Wilson’s Knock ‘Em Dead: The lousist spoon bending that I ever watch but other than that, the material in this DVD can still be consider good.
Richard Osterlind's Mind Mysteries Vol 4: It's a spike bending designed for stage/parlour performance.
Banachek’s PSI Series Vol 4: Teaches you some alternative aways and some extra ideas in performing metal bending. Nothing special.
Richard Osterlind’s EZMMM Vol 4: It's like Banachek’s PSI Series Vol 4 teaches you 2 alternative ways in performing metal bending. Nothing special.

Spike bends as in real spikes, about 30 cm long each.

Unlike Mind Bender (which I advise to steer clear like a plague), the only thing you have to worry about with Liquid Metal is the amount you will be spending on forks.
I don't perform Liquid Metal, but there is so much to learn about mis*** which I apply even in everyday life, and also in this forum.
Wanna learn how to bend a key? It's included as well.
Did I say KEY?
Yeah, you heard me - KEY.
Don't be like the rest who condemn me - BUY ORIGINAL
Kam - August 30, 2005 09:44 AM (GMT)
302, is the key bending impromptu?
I wanna know if there's an impromptu key and coin bending.
Jeff Gan - August 30, 2005 10:01 AM (GMT)
impromptu key bending is covered in banachek PSI series Vol 4.
If i not mistaken, osterlind also covers it.
Samuel Chong - August 30, 2005 10:29 AM (GMT)
Rainking,
>> Spike bends as in real spikes, about 30 cm long each.
Kam has answer your quesion.
eryanic,
>> Is the DVD called "Metal Bending"
I'm not quite sure what is it called in DVD format, mine is in VHS format and that's what writen there.
Kam,
>> impromptu key bending is covered in banachek PSI series Vol 4.
>> If i not mistaken, osterlind also covers it.
Rainking has answer your quesion too. Hahaha :D As far as I know there isn't any impromptu I coin bending unless you have the coin bending pen/marker.
The routine that i'm using now consist of Richard Osterlind's and Morgan Stebler's; the handling part most of them i'm using Patrick Kuff's and the psychology part I'm using Banachek's and Richard Osterlind's.
Next week, I'll be interviewed together with the president of Venessa Diamond Jewelry and the beauty pagaent of Penang. I'm planning to perform this metal bending routine for this shooting. Hopefully I could get the montage and upload for you guys to watch.
Jeff Gan - August 31, 2005 02:10 AM (GMT)
monte,
yeah. please upload it somewhere where we can watch it.
dat'll be cool.
Brendan Low - September 1, 2005 12:48 AM (GMT)

Cheers!

happy i took a look at this forum so UNTIL NOW u still CANT find the "forks" needed for morgan's liquid metal.n btw,if i 1 2 buy 1 videos only, which one comes 1st?(better if available in kl)
Adlan - September 29, 2005 06:29 AM (GMT)
there are some cheap spoons and forks (around RM6.99) i think which they sell in most major supermarkets, esp Giant's. it's not too obviously thin like the ones they have at roadside stalls and mamak places, and looks thick enough for any bending to be totally believable.
PS - sometimes i go for Uri Geller's bend in certain situations. similar to most bends, but great for nice old ladies in cafes. haha.
Jeff Gan - October 10, 2005 07:03 AM (GMT)
I've watched Liquid Metal.
Its pretty mind blowing...watching the fork get all twisted up..
He does some amazing stuff with them forks....I've not tried to perform the routine yet, but I'll give it a try soon.
cheesycake, to anwer your question, I would go for Banachek's.
IMO, Morgan performs his bends like a magician would. Banachek's is more like a mentalist. I prefer Banchek's approach.
Then again, I'm a Banachek fan, so I may be biased.
Samuel Chong - October 11, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
Check out Guy Bavli's metal bending. If you like Banachek approach then I believe you'll probably like his approach too.
