ChongWei - September 14, 2005 03:44 AM (GMT)
alright.. anyone who used fanning powder.. how u normally aplpy to the deck? i wonder what i did correct?
1. deck in plastic bag
2. apply powder inside the bag
3. shake the plastic bag
just wonder if u guys wear glove... as i dont...
Also... we need to "get rid" of the powder "stick" to the deck right ? spring it ?
Jeff - September 14, 2005 03:57 AM (GMT)
im not sure.. but thats the way jerry does it in xb. he didnt wear gloves..
Samuel Chong - September 14, 2005 05:11 AM (GMT)

thanks jeff and monte for the info... one more thing.. how do u guys "remove" the remaining powder on the deck? or.. you dont ??
it works well.. my reverse baby blue deck cant really fan well .. (so do the used playboy casino deck) .. after powder treatment.. they fan like new deck..
Brendan Low - September 14, 2005 05:37 AM (GMT)
Yes, if u wanna use the bag method, i think u need like min 2-3 shakes of FP.
But personally i dont use the bag method. I use the quick and easy method taught by jeff mcbride in his art of card manipulation series, i think it was vol 1. U save a lot of FP too by this methd.
1) What u do is square ya deck up.
2) Then u just carefully pour/shake bits of the FP on ya deck (the long edges).
3) Flatten and spread the FP with ya fingers along the edges. Then lift carefully and do a faro.
4) Keep doing faro. U'll notice the deck will be a lil bit more sticky in terms of they hold well together.
5) U can then do some dribbles and minor springs... then u can start to fan and get use to it.
So there u have it... its simple, save and it WORKS!
Cheers!

guess i'll stick with plastic bag.. LoL.. no faro shuffle... anyway.. just to try out.. its quite... miracle...
Samuel Chong - September 14, 2005 06:59 AM (GMT)
This what justme taught me. Get some heavy thing like Kamus Dewan :P and place it on top of your old deck. After a week or two, take it out and do a few faro shuffle then you can fan it again. It works but not for long la :D .

ya.. this will works too... normally when put the deck in the case for days .. then play again.. it fan again..
Jeremy Soon - September 14, 2005 04:05 PM (GMT)
can we use normal powder? like Johnson and Johnson? :D
Samuel Chong - September 14, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
I tried that before. Yes you can but it's just like putting the deck under heavy object a few days which means your deck can be fanned not for long. Fanning powder isn't very expensive.

Andrew Loh - October 14, 2005 03:05 PM (GMT)
 - Brendan always use the Jeff's method and he called it as the "Kiam Siap" way for fanning the deck. :D
Just joking!!! :P

Edwin - October 14, 2005 03:52 PM (GMT)

Brendan Low - October 15, 2005 02:39 AM (GMT)
Holy macaroni... Rm80 for Fanning Powder?
U must be joking... if like that better order from dealers from spore or USA or whereever. + Shipping will also cost way less than Rm80 man...

Kieran - October 15, 2005 05:40 AM (GMT)

-hyper keyz- ;)
Brendan Low - October 15, 2005 06:25 AM (GMT)
sorry Keyz, im not going to bring my FP to KL. i think if i did.. it will all be finished.. lol...

Edwin - October 17, 2005 10:34 AM (GMT)
hmm i told the boss ppl were selling this for 10 sg ..
then he sold to me for 30 .. i think ok la..
my thought on this fanning powder is at 1st it makes the deck smooth like new deck ...
but im quiet shock to find out that it gives the deck a rough grippy kinda feel... very nice feeel , as if u suddenly have control over the deck .. and reallly it fans well after applying it , worth it !
isaac - October 22, 2005 01:51 PM (GMT)
RM80 !! SIAO
the boss there in summit is rediculous ..
anyway i think u shuold go ask awlfm for price
he should be able to give us good price for almost everything

Jabz - December 22, 2005 05:40 PM (GMT)
i've never heard of fanning powder but can i use baby talcum powder??lol
JamesTong - December 22, 2005 06:54 PM (GMT)
If it is after a shower and on your body - yes, you can use talcum powder.
But on a sticky deck of card - fanning powder (zinc stearate) can make your deck smooth again - that means you can fan your cards easily after its application.
Jeff - December 23, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
i heard body powder gonna spoil ur deck..
anyway. FP powder is really really nice. whatever u do pls get 1. i use it all the time. u dont really have to get it just because u wanna do fans (i dont really do fans). just use it on ur decks n it makes ur deck handling a lot nicer..
Brendan Low - December 23, 2005 12:44 AM (GMT)
Yes.... flourishers..... FP is a must get!
It'll last u v long time! Yes, it does give ya deck the 'premium' feel it needs.... hehe. Make u feel more like a pro as well when u are handling a powdered deck.
bhhow - April 27, 2006 02:58 AM (GMT)

Ning - April 27, 2006 05:26 PM (GMT)
Fanning Powder is only US$3.50 ...paying RM80 is just plain nuts  But yeah it works really nicely... you can do a pro fan like never before after a single application

hmmm...talking about fanning powder...recently i went to Magic CLub Summit...and they mentioned their powder cost RM70... a bit cheap lor... :D
JEUZE - April 28, 2006 03:09 PM (GMT)
I get my fanning powder only at RM14.00 not mistaken. The sticker show is from Murphy's Magic Supplies, Inc.
Did fanning powder has their brand's name?
What brand name of the fanning power which cost RM 70.00?
I had try the fanning powder. Hehe, I hate the feel on the deck after I put the fanning power on it. Worst then didn't put on it. How about you guys?
I use the ways you guys mention.
Fanning powder not the "restoration powder", don't expect it too much.

JEUZE - April 29, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
Hello there, you guys who use fanning powder. I just want to ask 2 question.
After you use fanning powder on your deck, you like that feeling?
I don't like it. Do you guy like that feeling?
And, when you guy use your fanning powder?
A new deck or a deck use for some time?
Kam - April 30, 2006 02:21 AM (GMT)
There's not much if you apply fanning powder to newly opened deck, because it defeats its whole purpose: to make the deck fannable again. As to your first question, I love the feeling of a fan powdered deck :D It's a feeling that can't be bought!
Brendan Low - May 2, 2006 08:44 AM (GMT)
Fanning powder is wicked but not too much.....
I normally only apply it when my deck cant fan nicely anymore.
I tried to apply on new decks before.... doesnt do much help.
So yeah... use it only when necessary :P
I suggest you cardist and cardicians to purchase them thru Ning, since she'll be coming to Msia in a months time.
Mine's still more than half full... hheehe
Cheers,
Brendan
JEUZE - May 3, 2006 03:03 PM (GMT)
I found out before playing with your deck, put some fanning powder on your hand better [after washing hand] can keep you deck good in codition.
maybe this is the weird way I use fanning powder.

obviously
Brendan Low - May 4, 2006 01:13 AM (GMT)
huh? FP on ya hands?
That's the weirdest thing I've heard lol.
Doesnt it get sticky?....
Anyway it is meant to condition ya deck not ya hands LOL...
jaspas - May 4, 2006 03:06 PM (GMT)
Wassup GUYS!
Hey JEUZE Jaspas here.
About putting fanning powder on your hands, don't worry about it, you are not alone! There are some flourishers that like putting their hands in these bags that have fanning powder in them before flourishing. It is just like how Boulderers (Something like Rock Climbing but its less dangerous but more challangeing) have a bag specially for powder to keep their hands dry and grip-py.
Stay with the habit and practice, you might just save yourself a few decks :>

better then put on the deck.
I feel the whole deck sticky after putting the fanning powder.
jaspas, do I know you?
