Title: Ellusionist Xbz Contest
Ignatius - September 21, 2005 08:58 PM (GMT)
Just sent my vid. I want to win! Support me! :D
One of the reasons I had to learn the Impossible Stack Close is this contest. I think it doesn't look faster, but oh well, it'll do as I don't have time for another retake.
UPDATE:
Ok, decided to release my submission vid. Ellusionist doesn't seem to bother or close the submission page or give any updates about the contest. So here you go guys, kinda not good lighting but good enough to see the moves and I didn't want to waste anymore time doing another retake:
Aerox's Ellusionist XBZ Contest Submission VideoPoints for hard move. Minus points for bad lighting. So what will it be?

I need to wait for the contest submission to be closed before posting. There's still 4-5 hours to go. Hmm... will I get DQ or something for posting my video to others before the judging or announcing of results?
I'm not really sure about it as it's not mentioned in the rules, so if I decided to post, pls don't go spamming the video and the link at other places until E announces the contest winner which is on Sept 28, 2005.

Ignatius - September 22, 2005 10:00 AM (GMT)
I decided to wait 1 or 2 more days to see if E will say anything of the contest before releasing the video. ^_^

Released my video submission. Check first post. :)

I like the fonts u used.... the moves are OK.. but i think its too far... everything looked too small.... thus cant really see what ur hands or cards are doing.
the armspread looks slick and the catch is quite good.
Other than that, nice effort.... :)
Cheers!

Heh, I'm not allowed to do any other moves. The rules are that only use moves from XB and those are the hardest I can think of. Err, I don't really see it too small. What's your screen resolution? 1024x768? Maybe you need to double the size. I can't put it bigger or it'll go over the 6MB limit.... but when at the video submission page, over there got say allow over 9MB video.
Brendan Low - September 24, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
Aerox, some suggestions....
u could have included some fans and deck twirls, utility moves, springs and cross, rotating charlier cuts.
these are the moves that will be catchy IMO.
;) Brendan
Ignatius - September 24, 2005 07:58 PM (GMT)
Err.... only allowed 3 moves. -_-

Ya, I lazy to refilm another coz it was like 12 am ..... :ph43r:
and it looked brighter in real life. :(
Ignatius - September 29, 2005 07:54 AM (GMT)
Yay, winners announced and I dint win. :P
http://www.ellusionist.com/order/Devo/Devo...ner-Contest.htmNo worries, I'll take on the next one..... with a darker video! :!!:
Very nice videos for top winners. My fault for my dark video. :ph43r: I must remember to put some batman lights next time when I film at night to make sure it is really bright.
Anyway, talk about their videos. No. 2 has a very nice surprise ending. But I can tell you it's not really that hard to practise for it after you are able to do this method of spread catch(there's 3 ways I've found out with my practise so far, one easy, 2 moderately harder and he's using the easy one. I'm not* talking about types of spread catch but the way to catch for this spread catch. PM me for details.) without the surprise handicap. His giant fan looks very beautiful!
No.1, damn good nice and long spring. Makes me consider changing my finger spring to thumb spring(I don't know if any videos talked about it but yes, there's these two types of springs. I talked about it with magicians when I first started magic at some other forum which I forgotten. Before I went to The Magic Cafe.). It seems most XCM guys are doing thumb springs like Tudor and Jerry.
No.3 err..... I guess I could have at least beat this guy if my vid was bright and nice. Hmm... he's got nice vid editing and clothes too. I think that counts for points as well. Ah no worries, using up my defeat as experience for next time. All in all, I had a fun time in getting to know how to use Sony Vegas and the Handycam.
Aerox gained +3838473 EXP!
*edit: corrected error that may have confused.
Jeremy Soon - September 29, 2005 10:04 AM (GMT)
anyway aerox, it was a good try and effort :D
Kam - September 29, 2005 12:40 PM (GMT)
Hahahah aerox :D you're awesome man, no doubt you'll make it next time!
Brendan Low - September 30, 2005 12:38 AM (GMT)
Man, the vids were cool... i particularly liked the first one.. the winner... awesome fans and awesome springs.... wow..
yeah have to practice thumb springs.... sigh.... hard to control compared to finger springs rite? lol
the 2nd one.... good suprise ending :)
3rd one... nice editing but i tot the rules were we cant have cuts? meaning u cannot just show separate cuts?
man, how i wish i can win the black tiger sheets... so nice...
who else wanna enter the competition for the next one? aerox, wat level u put yaself into? begineers? no rite? intermediates for us?
Good try aerox.... at least u tried unlike any of us :(
Cheers!
Brendan

Ya, I thought I remembered somewhere got say cannot cut..... I guess they allowed it.
I would like to put beginner for more points  but so obvious how can a beginner do a crossed hand flipback straight catch combo. Therefore, intermediate. :D
