Kevin - March 11, 2005 08:14 AM (GMT)
I like doing my Inverse Impulse and Tripped Change, and the Pop/Cardini change is also an honorable mention. But my favourite is a simple DL and reveal... because the magic happens all in their mind ;)

the color change that i can do it well is by using a pass and change the card in front of the spectators' eye...it is easy and the effect on laymen is qoo

Andrew Loh - March 17, 2005 04:21 PM (GMT)
I just heard that someone had invented a colour change which takes place on spectator's hand.

That would be awesome, man! B)

If I got the info or read the articles, I will inform to you all guys! :P

what? hmm... the only possible way i could think of is using some sort of ***m as come on, wat other methods are there? u are not in control of deck... so there ought to be sumthing in ya hands prior. hmm... dunno... would surely like to see the effect :)

Andrew Loh - March 18, 2005 10:46 AM (GMT)

have u guys watched the "cultural xchange" ? shoot teaches a cool trick.. where 4 aces and 4 jacks is place on spectator's hand.. then it changes place.... its very visual.. but kinda hard to master... cant remmeber the name of the trick thou..

Brendan Low - March 19, 2005 12:19 AM (GMT)
Yeah, cultural xchange is really good but the moves in there are advance! shoot and the other guy in it have great skills. I cant remember the name of the trick but yeah the transpo of the cards are very visual. I dunno if it is angle sensitive kinda, if u know wat i mean. it may be visual if perform to ONE person, or for TV, but if u do it surrounded.. then u might be trouble. But again, this kinda visual magic is normally done with the audience infront of u. hehe so be smart. lol Shoot has some great sleight of hands skills. If u are an advance magician, i really recommend u Cultural Xchange. Its really that good if u can do it well :)

ChongWei - March 19, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
yes.. it IS angle sensitive... and YES.. this two guy are just.. great!! their skill.. wow... see how they play with the coin... when i first watch this video.. i really no idea WHERE THE COIN vanished to !! strongly recommended to anyone out there.. watch for the performance!

Adlan - March 22, 2005 02:05 AM (GMT)
my current favorite is the erdnase/tilt change. but then again, ive only started learning color changes in the past few months. im trying to get the hang of doing the snap change without flashing. sigh.

Brendan Low - March 22, 2005 06:50 AM (GMT)
There are various ways of doing the snap change. Most do it horizontally and a few do it vertically (harder). I like doing snap changes too.... its really visual.
I used to have vids of people doing various snap changes...cards to cards, or cards to handphone or to pencil... lots of things u can do... :)

I remember the first time i saw blaine doing it on his street magic vid... wow... he said sumthing like "i want you to remember one card... (riffle throught cards)... got one?..... this is not ur card..... watch..... *snap*..... i was like wat the??? lol.

After watching his street magic vid... i told myself its time to learn magic man! :) lol...

Adlan - March 22, 2005 07:25 AM (GMT)
haha yeah i got re-hooked onto magic after watching blaine too. his 2 card monte is a regular when i do effects for friends. i dont know the real method though, but as long as it works, its fine for me.

Brendan Low - March 22, 2005 10:16 AM (GMT)
haha yeah, 2CM is also my fav card magic all the time when i meet new people :).there are two methods.... wat method u use? the t** or b*tt** change? i use the t** change.... easier i find.

I also like the way blaine does his ACR as well... hehe that guy "fruitloops" lol... funny :)

Bertram and the Snap change are my favorites. I also do several variants for the snap change (as unbelievable as this may sound, some people are bored seeing the snap change or some find it just "okayish").

Right now, I'm learning this color change... well, I don't think it's PC to call it a color change (since the card is face down, so it's more correct to call it a card sw***h), but it's taken from a gambling move. Basically it's one card shown to the spec and put down on the table (and it's really one card, the spec can put the card himself) face down, but when the magician turn it face up it turns into other card. The hardest part is to get this ultra smooth.

Adlan - April 15, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
i'm currently obsessed with color changes! i only know about 3 changes, and i dont do em very well either, but i'd love to learn more...

Brendan Low - April 16, 2005 12:14 AM (GMT)
yeah betram change is vvvv goood.. very visual.... especially on camera. im also working on the erm.. i think its called turnover change where u spin/rotate the card and the card changes. it taught in on of the ninja series.

There's also one where u show a card (eg. not spec card) and without coming back to ya deck, u put the card down and then u ask the spec to later turn it over..... it changes to their card :) v cool

LarryDK - April 18, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)
Wow,
Dun know that there are so many change. I only know ednase change, Will be happy to learn more if anyone can give me a source, hmm maybe a book, video is also ideal.
Any color change to me is good when it bring out the effect of a change. Like in Ambitious, the card just come up from inside the deck, etc.

My thoughts

if u only know ednarse change... i suggest u also learn snap and shapeshifter change coz they're quite basic. If u want nice visual one... betram is my fav. learnt that from OZ pearlman... i think its in his Stealing Pips DVD.

Andrew Loh - April 30, 2005 03:18 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,

Yes! Colour changes is one of my favourites. I love Bertram Change as it's very visual like camera tricks if you can perform them well.

There are so many colour changes, yes, some are good and some are angle sensitive. ^_^

Andrew

Adlan - May 1, 2005 04:49 AM (GMT)
most of the color changes that i do arent learned from books or anything. i just watch performance videos over and over until i figure out how to do it. but for the life of me i cant firgure out how to do the bertram. im totally stumped on this one.

Andrew Loh - May 1, 2005 03:31 PM (GMT)
Haha.. baalan :P , you can learn this Bertram Change from 2 sources which I know so far.

1. Stealing Pips DVD by Oz Pearlman

2. Sleight of hand by Ross Bertram (He is the originator behind this Bertram Change, hence the title) ^_^

All the best,
Andrew

Kam - May 2, 2005 03:18 AM (GMT)
Bertram is like snap change in a way... that it takes little practice to get the basic right, but hell of a long time to get the angle right.

Andrew Loh - May 2, 2005 03:37 AM (GMT)
Hi doktorkaro,

Yes, Bertram Change has some of the 'knack' where the angle is quite sensitive, but if you practise in front of the mirror or perform and ask your magicians friends, see whether they can see the card expose or not or from particular angles. :P

If you get the angle right, you have no problem of executing this Bertram Change anymore.

For me, I think when the card is in your T****i position, your hand concealed the card should not be too high or too low, I would say the back of the hand should be seen and face to the audience or at the 'eye' level when they watch this change.

Hope this helps! ^_^

isaac - May 2, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
snap change n shapeshifter change are both hand down to me by another magician ..

they r great ..

betram change- weakness is the angles very very sansitive.
like andrew said .. when doing T**K** palm ..
back of hand always face audience ..
practise in front mirror

but i would love betram change as camera trick or only perform in front of 1person not live performance
cos in real live ... most of the time u dun only have 1audience ..
n with such sensitive angles change .. we might easily flash ..
my humble opinion

isaac

Andrew Loh - May 2, 2005 04:05 AM (GMT)
Hi folks,

Try Shapeshifter and paintbrush Change, it's visual and angle sensitive is very low.

Andrew

Kam - May 2, 2005 05:06 AM (GMT)
I figured that bertram can be done to 2-3 people at the same time, because the t****i is a pretty good way to conceal your card.

Andrew, there are two color changes that I know of that are called paintbrush. I know one performed by David Acer and another by Daryl (this one is where you use card to "brush" on another card for the change).

Andrew Loh - May 6, 2005 01:40 PM (GMT)
Flutter Change also very visual too! :P

If you want to learn a number of cc, then Card Finesse by Jon Racherbaumer book contained quite a number of cc to explore.

Also check out Daryl Encyclopedia of card sleights DVD, I think one of the volume he teaches quite a number of CC if my memory serves me correctly. ^_^
