Title: Gimmicked Malaysian Coins?

Aloy - February 22, 2005 04:51 PM (GMT)
Has anyone seen/have any gimmicked Malaysian coins?
Most of the gimmicks that you can get from the magic shops and internet are US denomination. But here in Singapore, there are some people who get their coins gimmicks custom-made.

Anybody has gimmicked Malaysian coins?

h_A_Z - February 23, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
Why do you need gimmick M'sia coins? Just use US coins if you need to. I've been using US coins alot of times but nobody seems to care. Now I'm in Ireland and I'm using US coins and again nobody cares. If you want to make gimmick M'sia coins, its going to be very expensive. It's not worth it. Try making some effects which does not use gimmick coins. It works just as well.

Brendan Low - February 24, 2005 02:30 AM (GMT)
If u are performing in western countries, perhaps it does not really matter coz USD is v acceptable and commonly used there. But if perform in msia, people will just wonder why u using US coin? THey prob will ask u why u using US coin and can u do it with malaysian coins? Then if we say no.... then they will know that its gimmicked etc etc? i dunno... im not a coin magician.

h_A_Z - February 24, 2005 01:03 PM (GMT)
Look at it this way, US coins are bigger than M'sian coins. Use that to your advantage! Say that it is bigger and so people can see the coins better. And since the coins are bigger, isn't it more difficult to manipulate? Use all of this to your advantage. Using US coins also gives you the "class" especially with Morgan Silver Dollars

Brendan Low - February 25, 2005 12:19 AM (GMT)
wow...cool way to explain h_A_Z :)
u the pro in coin, so u know best. Heard you kinda on a pro level already eh? We sure can learn from u. im just v v beginner with coins.. hey hey talking abt coins... can u do the muscle pass? give sum tips in the coin flourish section yeah? thanx bro

ChongWei - February 25, 2005 06:22 AM (GMT)
wish a US coin ,you CANT borrow a soin from spec, and do a switch with your gimmick coin.. unless.. uhhmm..... you told them you the forex enchange magician... ofcos US coin will be cool enough.. but the thing is, IMHO , I think the effect will be double up IF u're using the coin that the spec is familiar with...

morphine , i THINK one might get caught under ISA act IF trying to make own steel coin.. hehe...

Andrew Loh - February 25, 2005 01:06 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,

Yes! This is the questions I would like to ask for a long, long time ago.

Yes! In US magic shop they sell lots of coin shell which in USD coins.

In Malaysia, I really hope to have coin shells in RM maybe 50 cents is the best size in performing coin magic as it's bigger than other Malaysia coins. :(

I think it's not really impressive to use US coins and perform coin magic in Malaysia. As the spec will perceived the coin is 'Gimmick'. They will say "Nah, I bet you the coins have something wrong". <_<

I think if they hand you their coins and you can perform some coin magic, a couples like vanishes, transposition, penetration, Matrixes etc will enough to blow them away. I love the Dean Dill's coin Matrix.

I love coin matrixes which I use Malaysia 50 cents to perform all the time.

The advantage of gaffed coins are, there are REALLY POWERFUL in US coin shell which you can perform some KILLER coin routines, many possibilities of effects and etc.

But sadly, how wonderful it is if we have gaffed shell coins in Malaysia. :( -

Best,
Andrew Loh

Only magicians will think that there is something worng with US coins. I've done matrix-es, bare-handed coins across using US coins and they don't suspect anything! You can let them examine the coins before you start if you want futher prove but its not really necessary. About making M'sian coins, it can be done but its not cheap. And also, anything in a magicians hands, will be interpreted as "gimmick" because we can do things they cannot do!

My friend has a bitten coin which made by Malaysia 50 cent. Though compare to US half
dollar, it still look bad. My friend bought it only RM50. For those who interest I could supply them.

Hi Forrest Lim,

Is it??!! - I am really surprise to hear that!

I am very interested to know more about this, can you kindly explain or provide more about this info????

G'day mates

I am the guy that Forrest Lim referred to. Yes, I’ve got a Malaysia 50c bitten coin (which was fascinated me before having it) and it was really tough to manufacture it. Here are angle problems when I perform the effect due to the design of a coin. But, however you could do it well if you practise more unlike US coins (easy to perform).
I still love performing it cause I’ve got a huge reaction from some pretty girls!

I am looking for a Malaysia 50c shell coin too and hope I can eventually get it. It could make plenty of good effects.

Have a lovely day
Bill

Brendan Low - March 2, 2005 06:19 AM (GMT)
Gday Bill,
wow.. great... i want some too :P

where u get such coins from? how much are they selling for? im not a coin person... but to perform the bitting coin effect.... wow.. that would certainly be great. Shells should be great too.

Bill - March 2, 2005 10:08 AM (GMT)

One of my friends is selling $50 or more (if laymen) and the quality is not that good. So I’ve got it from other guy which I asked him to do me a favour by making it from his factory and it cost me RM20. I truly appreciate his toil.

Brendan Low - March 3, 2005 06:48 AM (GMT)
wow... cool... i must see it. i have not learnt how to perform with the shells but it should be interesting. i surely like to see a real life performance with shells... perhaps one day u can perform to me.. using RM coins.. heehe

Andrew Loh - March 3, 2005 03:40 PM (GMT)

For over the years, I always hear lots of magicians said that David Roth is still the best coin manipulator.

Hmmm....... I think it's true and his performance is really excellent and awesome.

i suggest tat we collect all our names who wanted to have a gimmicked malaysia coin, GET A SAMPLE of how an actual shell, folding or jumbo coin look like, then we hunt for a blacksmith who can do the job for us.
because if only one person wants one coin, he`ll say tat u are crazy to waste his time..
so, its time to live up my dream to see gimmicked malaysia coins user..
if we all order then they`ll make it in bulk for us lo...
someone else have a better suggestion or can provide any form of help??
PLEASE........

h_A_Z - March 10, 2005 05:12 PM (GMT)

Paul Long - March 11, 2005 07:13 AM (GMT)

good idea...

Brendan Low - March 12, 2005 04:32 PM (GMT)
i agree. I mean if there alot of demand of having msian shell coins, then someone would be able to make it and produce it. But are at the moment.. it seems the demand is quite small....

Andrew Loh - March 13, 2005 03:35 PM (GMT)
Yeah! If the demand is small, the price is DEFINITELY high! :(

It seems no choice, have to use other country's coin to perform this coin magic.

Andrew

Joe Xavier - March 19, 2005 07:19 AM (GMT)
dudes...

The coin does not have to be bitten off to get giant reactions....
There are much more things you can do with a coin that can get GIANT reactions other than the bitten coin. It works VERY VERY well! believe me! Been there, done that.... For more info, just PM me and I will give you the complete details for free...

*When you PM me (include email address), I will reply with a question. If you can answer the question within 24 hours, then I will provide the details... No big deal...but I just hate curious laypeople...

pal long - March 31, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
hai prenz!

ada sorang kawan aku guna 50sen,duit malaysia utk wat penetration...just go to workshop, mintak diorang tebuk lubang..bila nak perform, just palm duit tu..then,pinjam 50sen dari audience then switch! try la prenz..

Brendan Low - April 2, 2005 01:02 AM (GMT)
yes.... pal long boleh buat macam tu. tapi misdirection penting dan u must be skill ful enough that dia orang tak nampak itu swtich. ive seen Rocco done it something like that before... man it was super good.

silapmata - April 5, 2005 02:56 PM (GMT)
It is not economical just to create a single tricks you spent hundred of dollars in fabricating the coins. There's a lot of other stuff that you can learn to enhance your self in coin magic. Pertingkatkan Ilmu anda dalam manipulasi dalam coin tricks daripada menggunakan gimmick saja.my two cents worth..

Kam - April 12, 2005 09:58 AM (GMT)
We have gimmicked Indonesian coin (and if I'm not mistaken, a piece sells for RM60), and magic is not all that popular there (though it's well liked). So I guess it wouldn't be too pricey if we follow EuGie's idea of collecting some names and commitment that we'd like to have a gimmicked malaysian coin.

Adlan - April 12, 2005 02:30 PM (GMT)
i asked about gimmicked malaysian coins at the magic shop in Summit USJ. they sold 20 cent coins for RM50 and 50 cent coins for RM60. i think both are ciggie thru coin effects.

Bill - April 13, 2005 03:34 PM (GMT)

The owner of "Magic Club" at Summit told me that he is getting more about the 50c Malaysian shell coin gimmicks very soon as requested.

Brendan Low - April 14, 2005 12:11 AM (GMT)
that's great! hey, how much are the cig thru coin ones? good price?

Adlan - April 14, 2005 05:08 AM (GMT)
its around 50-60 bucks, depending on which coin u buy.

Paul Long - April 27, 2005 06:55 AM (GMT)
the coin shell (50 sen) is very nice - but RM 150!

Eric Liew - May 1, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
where can i get the malaysian gimmick coins??

Andrew Loh - May 2, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
Not so sure, I also plan to get one but some of the fellow folks here said they can get it, but I am still doubt whether can get the gimmick Malaysian coin or not??

Andrew

Paul Long - May 2, 2005 03:51 PM (GMT)
