Title: Greetings, Sacred Brothers;-)
Description: Just started getting serious in magic

Clement Josos - November 9, 2005 09:20 AM (GMT)
Hi....name's Clement, from Kuching, currently living in KL.

I've been fascinated by magic since I can remember. I used to buy those tiny books teaching simple tricks for young magicians n always try to learn new things. and I love those magic tv shows. but as i grow older, i concentrate more on my studies n magic seems far away.

1 1/2 year ago(i think), when I saw Blaine's special on tv, i got the tingling in my fingers to do those stuff, but it's only until one of my friend in college showed me his skill that i had the urge to pursue even further. I felt kinda being challenged u know. And then I know about a local magic store in JB(i study in JB) n saw all the amazing new stuffs, that my horizon's being widen. It all came at once, s if telling that it's my destiny or somthin, that I begin to explore deeper n learnt about profesional magician stuff.

But I'm still not sure should I become a profesional. Besides, I justed started getting serious almost 2 years ago. But as a hobby, my friends enjoy them very much. I even perform to strangers when I walk around in shopping complex.

I like all kinds of close-up magic, esp. cards(of course), I use IT quite a lot too and I love it. Impromtu magic with 'ungimmicked' everyday objects(coins, bottles, straw, etc), I wish I know a lot more, coz when u have 'intelligent', know-it-all kinda friends, u really NEED impromptu if u know what i mean. Hope u guys can help me with that.

I think this is long enuf(bored?), can continue next time....

welcome man!!!....

it's nice that you are rekindling your passion for magic . As we all grow older, we got more stuff to think about, studies, work, friends, future, gfs.... until loosing focus of what we trully love and passionate about....choosing something you love and earn good money would be great...

anyway have a nice stay...glad to see you are from Sarawak, we have quite a handful of sarawakians in the forum

 :D <_<

Not much , juz the simple ones needed in a trick like fans, spreading, one-handed cuts, coin roll, etc. I don't do those stuff like u guys show on your vids. I don't think I have that kind of dedication.

Besides, I like to perform those tricks where u seem to have mess it up(sucker), so it's better if i look like i'm not very good at cards, so fluorishes don't send that message. But if anyone can teach me i'd try to find the time to practice it. 4 cardicians sake.

i think to be a good card magician, u need to know how to handle ya cards well. That's my opinion.

yeah it may seem more magical if u are a sloppy magician (whether really u cant handle well or purposely act like dunno how to handle) but still manage to stun people with ya magic. But dont let it because u cant do it, and say i dont need such skills to impress people. i mean depends wat kinda card magic u into.... mentalism kinda effect dont need any flourish.

but i think its a bonus to handle cards well and yet still being able to astonish people. imagine being able to do hot shot cuts, being able to do fancy cuts before revealing the spec card/s, ace productions etc.

warning... once u start flourishing.. its hard to stop :P.... be warned!

That's exactly true. I fumble on purpose, it's not that I can't handle cards.

Is Trinary Cut considered fancy? I know that one and a few other simple fancy cuts.

Its exactly true also that some kind of flourish is good for the card revelation. I've bought my first S***r Deck a few weeks ago & when I reveal the cards just by simply turning them doesn't seem so magical. I think I should try more flourishes, but don't expect me to do extreme ones any sooner.
