Title: Magic Clubs In Msia

Aloy - February 22, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
I tried searching but I didn't find a Malaysia branch for IBM and SAM. Does anyone know if there's some public magic club/society in Malaysia and where are they?

Darren - February 23, 2005 01:15 PM (GMT)
I think Magic Annexe is one of the largest magic club in M'sia..it was founded by Anslem Roy..the top illusionist in M'sia..

Brendan Low - February 23, 2005 05:00 PM (GMT)
ive just visited the Magic Annexe website.

www.themagicannexe.com

Are any of you members from there? I wonder wat is it like :P

h_A_Z - February 23, 2005 06:25 PM (GMT)

What does it do? This magic Annex? Does it organise activities?

Andrew Loh - February 25, 2005 12:58 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,

I am not really sure as I also never join any magic club before.

Yes, 2 years ago, I read in The Star newspaper, there are 2 person organised the magic club in Malaysia.

Not so sure the 2 persons name as well as the name of the magic club??? :(

Best,
Andrew Loh

Hey guys... remembered it came out in the Star paper title "Street magician".

I know one of these brother. Have not met him in person yet but i want to. Yeah, i think it was cool to see the Star paper publishing abt him and there is one other guy... who works for a magic club/school. They were both publicised on the paper. i remembered reading abt them.

Morph, go visit the site to read more abt magic annexe

Do you guys think is it necessary to join a magic club? I've never join a magic club before, because the fee is too expensive.

Brendan Low - April 25, 2005 10:56 AM (GMT)
Kid, to answer ya question whether it is necessary to join a magic club, well... i personally dont think it is necessary as like u said.. it'll be v expensive.

i think if u dedicate ya time learning (reading or watching/learning good magic dvds), then u can already be a good magician. Most importantly, i think its always great to have and interact with magicians. when u hav e amagic buddy, magic is alwasys v interesting and u can always spot and give each other ways and can improve together.

of course being in a magic club, u will surely meet people of the same interest and learning comes easy coz u paid so much for it thus they have to teach u. But hey...that is why MMF is created. it does not cost money to have to meet with fellow magicians and interact with them. So, yeah.... i dont think u need to join a magic club. u already have a club here rite? i encourage u guys to meet up regularly :)... magic brings joy and wonders!

Hi folks,

Yes! A friend of mine in the UK a very famous magician, he also told me before that magic club is fun in meeting other magicians.

Magic club you have to pay the membership fees which is not cheap and quite costly, so what's the difference if we ourselves take our fun time to meet some of you here, not far difference, right? ^_^

Like H_A_Z I belong to the magic annexe club. Personally, it's GREAT. Haven't met H_A_Z though as he is overseas and I am new. Only attended 3 meetings (latest was last night) and I have learned a lot apart from having fun.

Meeting together regularly in my opinion would be just like a club except I think it is important o have someone with a lot of expereince and knowledge to guide the meetings or it would be more of a fellowship

Actually if u r really interested u can join the magic annexe..but it's quite hard for you la as u stay so far..they r having regular meeting on every tues..though i'm a member but i havn't attened one coz i'm in Srb!! they did a live show for 'latte@8'..did u watch tat?quite cool..all types of magic..

Brendan Low - May 3, 2005 08:31 AM (GMT)
oh, david did mention to me abt that show last time but i never had a chance to watch it myself. i have frens (non-magicians) telling me so much abt the show and all but just too bad i didnt get to catch it.

abt joining magic annexe? hmmm its ok... like u said, im in melaka and all... so kinda hard and i feel that we can also still meet up with magicians without the actual need to join a club. but oh well.. they have their advantages and disadvantages i guess

hey...perhaps darren and paul magic and dok, u guys are members there rite? tell me more abt it... is the membership only benefits those in kl? can i be a member? does it cost anything? i just wanna be in touch with magicians. :P

darren, do u have a copy of that show? u have it on cd or recorded it anywhere? i would surely like to watch.

Membership is by a invitation only and its free. I am new so I can't give you much input on selection process etc but as far as I know its objectives are very closely linked to IMS (promotion of magic - keeping it alive and growing) - as I undersatnd it, membership is not to be taken for granted as "members" have been and can be removed.

Like HAZ said, contact Roy Anselm - he basically decides along with some core members.

david lai in fact provoked a bunch of seniors magician..
coz he boasted himself too far in the media...
and when if any of u guys is his friend, soli to tell u tat all anexian raise their hand when asked who want him out of the club.
it happened..
cuz he got overwhelming attitude problem at the club tat roy dun really happy abt it.. i`m sharing the truth and i hope if any of u is his friend, please tell him to change for good.
and DARREN....walao....
since when u join the magic anexe?!?!
y i dunno geh??
looking forward to meet u in the next meeting...!!!!
its a good good club, i love roy the most, though he is quite mumbly smtimes, but his words are full of wise tips..
its free and ntg to lose..
an old man who is willing to sacrifice energy and time for young magicians.
for wat? he earn kosong cent...
tats y i appreciate him a lot..
he does give me strong pointers for performing..

I'd love to join the Magician Annexe... I've been contacting them for some time and Peng answered a couple of times.. but it seems that he's been very busy lately.

Is there anyone here in the club who would invite me? :(

Darren - May 9, 2005 05:34 AM (GMT)
Ya as i said..I joined it long ago but never attended any meeting coz i stay in Seremban! and meetings r on weekday so..ha i'm not even sure tat i'm still a member now..but i met roy once..impressed by his thoughts on his club too..

Kam - May 9, 2005 06:34 AM (GMT)
On the website, it said that one of the requirement to become a full member is to attend the meetings regularly, right? (or at least for the first few months)
