I do think that 2 card monte is the most amazing card trick....I always perform it as an opener...this card trick maybe a classic trick ...but i think when we combine this trick with card to pocket...you can get very good reaction from the spectator...

2CM as an opener? hmmm...

its too strong for an opener dude... (in my opinion)...

as for stand up kinda routine... i always start ambitious.....

Right now in this phase of life, I can't find a reason why I should do 2 Card Monte (actual name: Be Honest, Which is it?). That's why I've never done this anymore...

Kam, why stop doing this trick? a lot of magicians think that almost everyone has seen this effect and its less suprising already. well... think again.... ;)

Yes, 2CM has been aired on TV lots of times b4 on street magic specials etc etc. But people (laymen) tend to forget. All they remember is their card change in their hands (forgeting the routine and patter involved). There's a lot of people on the streets or even businessmen or ladies that have not seen this effect b4. U may be suprise some also dunno who david blaine is.

I still do this trick all the time. Its one of my favs stand up routine. Dont do it to ya frens coz they alreadyt know, try it on the streets or people u dont know.... family frens, old dudes, at the hair saloon anywhere in the market place..... u'll be supprise how strong this trick can still be.

My style is i'll just chat with my audience and everytime before i do 2CM, i just ask u heard of DB? or seen him on TV? If they say "NO" well... then this is the best opportunity for u as a magician to stunt them with the effect. If they say "yes" then you can still go ahead and do the trick. they may know wats coming but still blur on how to do it.

Patter and misdirection is the key for this.

Yes, 2 Card Monte is very fooling even though I knew the secret and still being fooled by other magicians who show me.

I think 2 card monte has to add some twist because I have seen many magicians perform the same 2 card monte. It would be better to add some touches especially the end of this effect.

Maybe it would be better to change the final 2 cards to something else. :rolleyes:

btw i seldom do 2CM .. especially d classic 2CM..dun really like d idea of tr**le lift..

i got the idea to perfrom 2 card monte from Kard Klub by ellusionist...I've inspired by RT Showman and J.Bayme....they did it very well....

Hmm... it's not that. It does play well, but it's basically an "in their hands" color change with no motivation. It's like "here I give you two Aces, now turn over your hands" and they change. So why do the cards have to change? Just because we can do it? And why to the (usually) two other aces? So yeh... I thought the reaction is more of a surprise rather than magical.

But then again, that's why I said I don't often do it anymore because it doesn't really work for me, but if you guys can work out some beautiful presentation then that's all you need :) Like the first time I saw Blaine did it... wow, I had no idea how the hell it could work (before knowing how to do t** c*****).

well... to make it looks more magical, i end the routine by vanishing the 2 aces and make them appear in some imposible locations..

I usually do this trick to my frenz. after doing it i show them the daley show ( www.penguinmagic.com )...

:lol: 2cm is boring if u just do it with out any performance skill but it will be a bom if u know how to perform it nicely..

... no mater wat trick u pull off its all about the performance man, it can even be a real visual effect stuff ...like "trace unseen" or even "here than there" the reaction of audiance is effected on ur performance man.. act stone = audiance scream soft... act spooky = audiance scream high!!

to me even if they seen DB did it before as long they din try it first hand, i'll do it B) B)

is like if u perform to a group of ppl and u have a dude as a victim after u done u can hear scream on the other saying "hey do it to me!! " is like they just saw the darn trick and they wan me to do it again!! - but normaly after that i just say good things comes once. hehe hang their emotions :P:P

i understand that it is an old trick but i still do it all the time.. it gets good reaction everytime. i prefer BTP style than E style.. when people tend to burn ur hands with their eyes do BTP style, orelse stick to E style..

yeah... i do it E or blaine style most of the time but once in a while i'd do the BTP method.

As for biddle... BTP style is my fav.

And yeah some of u mentioned abt Daley show.. that's one of my favs as well... v strong!

Next time there is an oral test at school i'll perform this trick! so woth the other montes (daley show, 2cm, 3cm, cups and balls, 3 shell game).... I get good reactions when performing these trick except to my bro who hates magic tricks i think..... berani again he say at my face magic ***k !

I've been using Two ard monte as an opening effect for such a long time...but only these few weeks I've changed my opener effect....I also realize its just too strong...I realize I dont get such strong reactions anymore after doing 2 card mont as an opener effect...I suggest you do a 4 ace production then continued with 4 ace routines...hope this helps ;)

Yeah.. 2CM should never be an opener unless u only planning to show one trick.....

i showed abt 6-8 effects to a group of friend's friends last nite and later asked them which one they like best..... 2CM came to be the clear winner.... why... coz the card changes in spec's hands.... B)

this trick i somehow like it as an "opener ", not the 1st trick but the 1st few
cause it give very strong opening.

2CM is a boomer!! hella cool but im still practising the last part when u switch the 2nd card...i'm still kindda slow there...my opening would be the lamest trick...cigarette ash on hands hahaha! :D

I prefer Oz's method for the switch...the BTP dvd is highly recommanded to all street magicians...get it now!!! ^_^
