Title: Sunway Sunday Recap...
Description: posts ur recap here...
Aiman - December 18, 2005 11:23 AM (GMT)
hi to all of u.
just came back home after meet up at sunway. thought i start this tread since i was the 1st to leave and its my 1st meet up, bummer... wanted to stay longer but my uncle said ' lets go '. but thanks to him i get to join the gathering.
saw rainking, kamil, baalan, shuq, james tong, and some other guys for the 1st time and it was great. they showed me some cool magic. kamil with the cards, rainking with his mentalisms, victor showed some of his cards and stage magic, baalan with the bending stuff, very visual and great. those are some of the moves they did. as for me, sitting there with the magicians made me forgot the world.( not really lah, just forget to take picture, contact number etc etc ) the awkwardness of 1st time meeting them and the shaking of nervousness only lead me to 2 tricks. the revolution coin vanish and ace trick. i din't perform so well i guest.
sori if i did something wrong or din't remember some of the names. wish i could meet up with u guys next time and stay longer. ( most of the guys was just arriving and i had to leave, aaaaarrrrrrrggghhhhh....)
to all of u who wants to recap can post it here.

Dude, too bad you had to leave early. We had such an amazing session with the guys there. Victor performed several stage stuff and simple manipulations. Most of us showed a little something for everyone. And our amazing guest for the day, Mr. James Tong, taught us the pro way to do the manipulation. Man... seriously, it was AWESOME! There was some discussion going on as well, the topic ranged from the t shirt and about performance.
In attendance: Me, jackliw, rainking, balaan, Shuq and his girlfriend, yongster and his girlfriend, Death Angel (gotta love the nick!), Still a Kid, Victor, and James Tong.
After that me, rainking, victor and jackliw went out to eat some other place, then we went to the MTR. And there again Mr. James Tong was there with his friend. We got a table and ordered some drinks. David Lai, Eric, and Robin were there. We met up with an experienced illusionist there who was really fun to talk to. From then on, everybody was having fun. We were doing magic here and there (I bet most of you haven't seen Mr. James Tong does his coin magic :D real smooth stuff I tell ya!). It was such a learning and FUN experience! We basically spent the whole day doing nothing but magic. It was really great.
We left at 1:30 in the morning. That was just in a nutshell, I really need some rest now lol. More to come :)

My first experience with you guys yesterday made me realized i need to actually concentrate on which magic i want to excel. all and all it as a more of a exposure experience for me. James Tong presence was a big surprise. of all the advice and magic tips he showed us, i must say i can't really get my eyes of his majestically-well treated hairdo! :) keep it up james!
Kam with his nonchalant flourishing, victor with his ever enthusiastic tricks that kept us clapping hands more than drinking. james and others too. it was a bit sad that i had to leave early though.. well, its my only weekend you see.. ( i work 6 days a week ) so had to divide magic and personal stuff if u know what i mean :)
anyway, it was all good. and experience like yesterday really burned up my passion to explore more effects. James makes me realize that even the effects that u normally do needs a little touch up here and there. Just because you've done a few effects millions of times and thought u've master them, there are still places to smooth things up.
P/s: next gathering, pls...pls..pls avoid sunway pyramid on weekend + school holidays. took me nearly one hour to find a parking spot! why not Gazebo or asia cafe next time?

Had the most amazing time yesterday. James Tong so graciously spent the whole day with us noobs and personally taught me how to do linking rings. WOOOO!!!!
Man, I'm dusting off my old linking rings and gonna put them to good use now.
Non MMF member Victor, only like 17 or 18 max , but I really love his billiard ball manipulation, cigarete manipulation, and shocked the bejeesus outta baalan with his appearing cane. James showed us all the finer points of card manipulation & billiard balls manipulation...
at about 7 plus, we all dispersed but some of us stayed on for dinner and later decided to check out the MTR.
Met James Tong there again . IN a while James Tong was already coaching Kam & Jack to do coin magic.
Like Kamil said, we met up with Pakar Illusi (his nick from the magic cafe) , experienced stage magician and had a wonderful time talking magic.
Overall, it was a very very fruitful gathering. You guys should have been there.
I'm gonna be doing linking rings for a while now. :D

It was a great meet-up. James Tong is a wonderful man, his advice is priceless. I hope all of us would get to meet him some day. I was awestruck with his card productions and ball manipulation, he was so kind to share some of the techniques, subtleties and the psychology behind his magic. Too bad I had to leave early.
Anyway, it was indeed one of the most fruitful sessions I've ever had. I even came up with a new bend, thanks Shuq for giving it a name. Thanks to rainking too for bringing a lifetimes supply of forks.
Shuq and Yong came with their spouses, hahah. These two very resourceful guys are always coming up with new stuff and figuring out ideas, theories and methods. It was great to finally have them in our meetups.
Sorry I didn't get to jam with Yap much. He seemed very busy with his cards and stuff. Jack, let's meetup this weekend and talk. I also had an amusing time with Death Angel, doing some mentalism stuff together. Dude, hope you get hooked on my kind of stuff, haha.
Victor, you got a lot of potential in stage magic. I sincerely hope you become rich and famous someday. And, yes, I jumped outta my skin seeing you do the appearing cane. haha.
Right-o, let's hope our next sessions are as fun as this one.
thoughtfully,
baalan.
ps - sorry, i screwed up in the crediting.
