[ Note: I posted the following reply in Brendan's post (on pen flourish) but nothing appeared. Hence a new topic here...]


As for pen flourish ...I see...I can do:


a) Horizontal spin
B) Vertical spin
c) Out of hand vertical spin
d) Within the hand 2 circles vertical spin

These flourishes are really "chun"...especially when u are in primary school....
I did the above flourishes all the time in my primary school...sometimes challenging other people..hehe.... :P

The most unforgetable moment is as follows:

Once, during standard six, I was assigned to sit for the "Inter Primary Schools competition" on "Chinese Culture, History & Tradition Quiz"....while sitting for it, I was spinning my pen - all the time, even when the invigilators walked past me...to me, spinning helps me to think fast.....and you really need think fast and answer fast in the quiz (where answers were written on the answer sheet)

When the result was released...yoohoo....I won a prize...hehe...

Then later my teacher told me that after the quiz, the other teachers in my school were very worried about me winning the quiz....why? These were their comments:

"Oh man...the boy was playing with his pen during the quiz....was he serious?"

"Walao....that boy was spinning his pen all the time, can he answer the quiz and at the same time fooling around with his pen"....

haha....of course when the results came out, "all their spectacles dropped to the floor and were broken" (if u are know mandarin/cantonese, u would know the meaning of this phrase)....so that was one of the happiest moment for me....hahaha.... :lol: B)

LOL sounds god zhuanan! I can do most of the pen flourishes... the problem is my inability to catch them and make em look good on my hands. In other words: I know nuts about pen flourishing :P

ya my reply also dint appear. I just said I messed around with pen spinning before moving to card flourishes. I'm not sure what my moves are called. Lazy to check out with pentrix coz when I discovered them, I discovered XCM at the same time, then never bothered to enter Pentrix. Basically one move is around the thumb forwards and back. One shifting finger by finger. And another one sort of rolling through the fingers. Didn't do as much these days.

Update: I just tried, still can do them. :P

Lol! :D - I just know 2 methods:

First one is make the pen spin one around at my 1st & 2nd fingers.

Second one is causing the pen jump from between 2nd and 3rd fingers arrive to in between 1st and 2nd fingers. <_<

Hey i do play pen flourishing too! ya it's definitely a cool thing in primary n secondary skool hehe..n hey zhuanan i hav a kinda similar story with urs too la..participated in a quiz n spinning the pen helps me thinking..hehe..
